Saw some spinners on an Explorer in Boise ID, a week ago friday. My wife couldn't stop giggling looking at them. Her first comment, was "Am I seeing what I think I see????"

I can't remember where their website is, but the 'spinners' on the taxi are actually supposed to be 'non-spinners' in that they are supposed to be stationary so that you can see the advertisement on them. Hokey? Yes. Neat idea? Yep.

Curiousity prevailed and I found a link to their site:

I'm still surprised that they haven't made spinners that light up with lights that spell out something, like those hologram thingies ( I need to stop using those technical words)

Well, there is an idea for a new invention. I think it will sell better than painting the cars with advertisements.

SnowMo I think this could be big, maybe short lived but big. I guess they put a weight to keep them from moving. There must be a zillion business that will grab onto the novelty.

hmmm I wonder what the relieability of the bearings would be on tese things..

I'm just thinking of this nice canadian weather, the salt and sand in the winter would be murder on the rotating bearings..

SEMA 2004 had them. Words pre-programed by your laptop, spelled out by LEDs, 125 down each spoke.

$15,000 a set!

you don't need that.. .. if anyone has seen the "metronome" LED clock it's exactly the same principal.. just have the single row of leds (one "spoke" ) light up at different angles as the spinner rotates around.)..

sound be simple to do..
