Hey there all. Just wanted to confirm that the Xanavi Android Auto firmware flash works.

I was so pissed when I learned that Nissan added Android Auto to the Murano line starting in 2018, after I bought my friends 2017.5 Murano Platinum. Granted, they added CarPlay, but I'm not a fan of Apple.

Came across this thread after looking at a lot of aftermarket head unit replacements, and was surprised that Xanavi was just offering a firmware update. Decided to take the plunge and reached out to them over Facebook Messenger. After chatting with them a bit, I dropped the Pay Pal payment and he emailed me the .img file for the flashcard, took about 20 minutes or so to flash the card. Then I followed the installation instructions sent with the file. The firmware does backup your initial firmware install so you can go back later if you want. The firmware installation generates a .dat file that you need to send back to them for a license key, but once that key file is on the card, just pop it in and Android Auto runs.

Seriously, I do not understand why Nissan didn't do this on their own, but I just spent the last half hour using it and it works perfectly.

I would suggest this as an option if you have the money to drop.

I've attached some pictures of it running on my car.

Thank you, Eli, for your detailed review!
We are very happy that you loved our service 🥰
Enjoy and drive safe!

Btw, you can install Fermata Auto app and use IPTV and YouTube! But do not play with it a lot, look at the road!

How much was this?
$300, plus the cost of a 32GB memory card (the actual fullsized SD card, not the micro with an adapter).

I think they might do a sale around Black Friday, cause I saw it on their Facebook page for last year if you want to wait.

Alright, so after driving around with the update for a day or two, I have a point to bring up.

First off, there's nothing wrong or off with the firmware update itself. Works perfectly. The issue is with the Murano itself and I think this might be why Nissan didn't include Android Auto as an upgrade later (could also be a licensing issue that they didn't want to pay, not to sure on that).

The USB1 data port that is in that tiny little storage area between the center console and the shifter has a very low power draw. After all, it was mainly designed to have an iPod or equivalent plugged into it. When you have a smartphone (I have a Google Pixel 6 Pro), the charging through the cable is very slow. Android Auto, I think for all of us since the bluetooth connection in the Muranos cannot handle wireless Android Auto, must be connected through a cable and is a power hog. After all, all of the maps and apps are running off of your phone. I think Nissan would have had to retrofit the headunits to include a larger powersupply for the USB connection and also replace the USB 1 unit itself. Probably too much work, and just better to wait til the next year to fix those issues.

Now, I'm not saying the phone doesn't charge, it just charges very slowly. It will also cut off charging if the phone fires up the wireless radio to connect to data (getting maps from Google Maps, traffic data, starting Spotify), but it will start charging slowly once it gets all the data it wants. I drove around for an hour and a half yesterday trying to stress test it, and it seems that with live maps and Spoitify going the charging was enough to keep the phone at 100%. Just don't be surprised that if you got in your car with like a 40% battery, the Murano USB1 can maintain that, but probably not charge the battery higher than that.

However, there is a solution! You can get a USB Y cable that can pull data and power from one port and power from another port, then it funnels both power sources into 1 USB C connector. They are pretty cheap on Amazon. In fact, the first review I saw on the one I'm gonna post here specifically was talking about Amazon Auto.

Hope this all helps! I'll give you all a further update as I continue to use it.

Still highly suggested.

Hello, I discovered this magic through Youtube. I've reached out on Vlad on 6/5/22 on Facebook via his Vladislav Volkov account, Xanavi.net account, and his Instagram but I don't seem to be getting a response.

I've tried to purchase through the site but I don't see the option to choose US.

Hoping to get his attention in this forum?? @XanaviNet

Hello, I'm new to this forum, I have a 2015 Murano Platinum. I found this thread while researching the Xanavinet product as I've been seeking a solution for Android Auto/Carplay. I decided to purchase the software and I'm very pleased that I did. I reached out to them using Whatsapp and they were really good with their responsiveness and communication. They walked me through the steps to complete the purchase, download, prep the SD card, install, and activate and everything went smoothly. I have a Pixel 6 Pro, my son has an iPhone. I have been using the Android Auto extensively, daily, for about 2 weeks now with no issues. I've only tested and used the Carplay a little bit with my son but that seemed to work fine too. The rest of the car behavior for the cameras, radio, XM, seems to work just fine too. If you're seeking a solution for AA/Carplay I highly recommend this option.

I also really APPRECIATE the tip from ACS Ajax regarding charging. I also want to say I agree this is no knock on the software or developer, just an issue with the car's hardware doing something it probably wasn't intended to do charging-wise. Yes, the port to run this software (USB A) seems underpowered to have much if any charging benefit while running Android Auto. Maybe enough to maintain current charge but I wasn't satisfied with that either. I ended up trying several splitter options and finally found one that worked. Only catch, each time I connect I have to go into the USB preferences to switch the control from Connected Device to This Device. after that the software senses the connected phone and launches AA and works with my high speed charger simultaneously, with the same occasional disruptions to charging for data downloads that ACS Ajax mentioned. but it's plenty good now to run AA and charge my phone at a strong pace. The splitter that worked for me is this one. I connect the charger to the USB-C port and a male/male USB-A cable to connect to the car's USB1 port in the console to run the software.

Thanks for the update and info on the USB ports. I also noticed mine charges slowly. I don't blame Nissan though because smart phones just started coming out earlier this year, so they couldn't have known to install a more powerful USB port.

I'm excited for 2030 when wireless charging finally comes out and Nissan will be the first to adapt it.

Hello, I'm a 2017.5 Murano owner and new poster. Like many others here, I'm convinced this is a legit product after Vlad answered my initial questions. However, there's still one current question I need answered before making the buy. Google has announced it is abandoning the Andoid Auto phone app in favor of incorporating most of the app's features into Driving Assistant in Android 12. I'm running this version on my Pixel.

Is there anyone on this thread using Android 12 who has bought this firmware and can confirm that it works as described using the new Google Driving Assistant? Thanks in advance for your help!

My bad, I'll answer my own question with a recent clarification from 9to5google: No, Android Auto isn't going away . The AA app IS NOT GOING AWAY for those using it through their integrated car media system. It is going away for those who used it through their Android phone screen. This article explains the confusion and clarification. I still don't know if the Xanavi.net product will work with Android 12's evolving Driving Assistant mode, but this AA app clarification makes that a non-issue for me.

I recently bought the CarPlay upgrade from Xanavi.net for my 2015 Murano SL. I had been following all the posts here and the clincher was this video:
.

I successfully installed the upgrade. Vlad at Xanavi.net was very helpful. Although the transaction was online, it takes a few days due to the time difference between eastern Europe and the Central Time Zone.

So, I had CarPlay. You would think I would be happy but no, I now wanted wireless CarPlay!

Again, after reading all the posts about adding wireless CarPlay on this board, I bought the CarlinKit 3.0 from Amazon. I chose Amazon over buying direct due to pricing at the time and because the return policy from Amazon is more liberal.

I also bought a USB 2.0 Y Splitter to provide the power needed to run the CarlinKit from the power outlet in the console box, as has been noted by others on this board.

It was all good! Except, I was dissatisfied with the cable management. The power outlet in the console box in at the bottom, which stretched the cables a bit more than liked. So, I dug out an USB 2 male to female cable I had, and I was able to fit the CarlinKit etc. in the Media Pocket with the one power cable trailing into the console box. Perfect.

I then learned 2 things. I had the CarPlay running and disconnected the power side of the Y splitter to add the extension cable, which meant I had to cut the supplemental power to the CarlinKit. CarPlay did not shut off! So, I played with this for a few minutes and found that the CarlinKit requires the supplemental power to start up, but not to run. I have not tested this for a long trip time yet, but I will.

Second, with the supplemental power attached and CarPlay running, the head unit will not shut down when I turn the car off. I let it sit for about 5 minutes and the head unit was still powered on and running CarPlay. So, I unplugged the power cable in the console box, and head unit immediately shut off. I am not comfortable with this. Can anyone give any insight on whether this is a Nissan ‘feature’, or a CarlinKit thing, or a Xanani.net thing?

So, I am very happy with the Xavani.net upgrade and the CarlinKit. I am intrigued about the ability to run the CarlinKit, but not start up, without supplement power. I am wary of the head unit not shutting down with car.

I am interested in your comments.

I am a new member here and was looking for information on the android auto. I have a 2017.5 Murano and after reading several others have successful luck with XanaviNet and their downloads. So I pulled the trigger yesterday and they were quick to respond to my Facebook DM. Send the funds per paypal and within 5 minutes I had their email with instructions. I am heading out to go get a memory card then will come back and give it a shot. I will let you know how the transition goes for me in the next few hours. Thank you for all the great info on this thread and site!!
