Hello...
I am new to the MO and ORG. I have a 2007 MO SE, and have developed a small rattle at 35-45 mph which appears to be coming from the center console. I would like to remove the center console and see if I can find what might be loose and might need some sound deadening material. One small problem,,, I cannot figure out how to get the center console out

Does anyone know how to remove the center console, or know of a site which might have detailed instructions to get the console out?

Any help would be appreciated.

Greetings and welcome from an almost Mo owner.

Back in 02 my PT Cruiser was brand new. If there were any noises or any problems, back to the dealership it went. I got charged top price for the car AND for the warranty. I used every minute of it I could.

It is horrible to have a brand new car with a noise you can't find. Good luck with your search. If no one here can help you get the console off, I'll get the Service Manager can actually look for the noise for you.

Before you open up the console... take a look in my gallery. I had a lot of small rattles that I addresses. Sometimes they sounded like they were coming from one place but really turned out to be coming from another place.

That doesn't work so well for Nissan dealerships. Over and over and over again people (including me) have reported that they left their MO with the dealership on several occasions for them to fix something, only to have the "service" manager state that it was "supposed to be like that" or "could not reproduce the problem".

I have found that it's MUCH easier to try to fix the problem myself, with the help of this forum.

As for taking apart the center console, I was going to do so for my Ipod install, but after seeing what all is involved, I quickly gave up. I believe the 2007 is different, though, so it might be easier.

Do a search on the forum for "Service Manual" and you should find a way that you can download the ENTIRE Murano service manual for about $20. That manual has instructions on how to take it apart, along with some good drawings. It's definitely worth having, especially if you want to try to mess with things yourself. For $20, you really can't go wrong. Those manuals are hundreds of dollars if you buy a hard-copy.

Corin isn't it sad whatyou said.

In other word the stealer was a waste of you time. Did they pay you for it? Why do we put up with such cra*?

I'll tell you why, Grip.

Why do we put up with such cra*?
(Corollary to your question) What is their excuse for getting away with such cra*?
What is companies' excuse for ditching their customers after getting their money?
What is utility companies' excuse for raising rates, while having a rate hike waiting approval, and while working on the next hike to be submitted (and NEVER lowering rates)?
What is corporate execs' excuse for giving themselves hundred-million dollar bonuses when they lead their companies into billion-dollar losses? Especially when their employees' raises, if they get raises, are less than the rate of inflation, thereby resulting in actual pay cuts?
What is executive boards' excuse for giving hundred-million-dollar severance packages to executives they fire?
What is oil/gas companies' excuse for keeping up with the obscene price hikes while producing sorrier and sorrier products?

Say it after me, kiddies!

Sometimes a little dealer attytood adjustment is in order. Ask the SM if he wants to get a 100% on the next satisfaction survey that you send in. Or tell the SM you'll be taking the matter up with the owner of the dealership. The survey works well for me, got my shift knob replaced using that one.

I agree wholeheartedly. I think that is why i got such good service at the Chrysler Dealership. They
knew that I was good ad tude adjustments and I took no prisoners. When I got that look in my eye, no "jewels" were safe in my presence.

If you need to, do what I did about 15 years ago. Stand in the service bay and use your best long distance voice. "My car is not right. Someone needs to fix it. I am not leaving until it is done!!!" If they try to shuffle you off to a room away from other customers, don't let them. They are at your mercy when other paying customers are listening.

I have since learned, though, how to pick my battles. Some are best fought using a soft voice and a big smile.

Go forth, and let the dealership take care of you. Be sure you stay for the entire procedure (whether you wait with the car or in the waiting room). It is difficult to dismiss a live, warm body.

Yes, Nissan service managers REALLY do care about those surveys. In fact, they care about the results so much that they try to pressure you into giving them excellent marks even if you're obviously unhappy.

I tried that approach (in combination with the loud voice around customers) last time when they originally said "oh, that fix is really easy, I know exactly what is going on" and then gave me the "cannot reproduce" response when I picked it up. They still didn't back down, but they DID try to make me quieter since other customers were around.

I have never been so excited to receive a survey in the mail.... :twak:
