Okay, don't flame me - I know I've seen this but can't find it with search. Did I see somewhere that the largest USB stick/thumb drive the non-nav 2011 MO SL can access is 2GB. Is that correct?

The owner manual either doesn't say or I can't find it. Why the hell can't Nissan give us a model-specific owner manual? They have such a confusing mix of instructions for every possible combination it's very hard to find anything about the audio system! Maybe I'll cut out all the pages that only pertain to the nav system.

Manual mentions USB 2.0 (no mention of USB 1.0) pertaining to usable media. Also mentions the format of USB stick has to be either FAT16 or FAT32. There is no mention in the manual of min or max GB that USB stick can be that I am aware of.

My Murano, USB experiences .............. Have your USB stick formatted to FAT32 or expect issues. Murano will read smaller then 4GB, 4GB, 8GB, 16GB, 32GB USB Stick. I have not tested with larger capacity sticks.

The manual says nothing about capacity (GB), but it does say this:

Models without navigation system:
Folder levels: 8, Folders and files: 999 (Max. 255 files for one folder)

With navigation system:
Folder levels: 8, Folders: 255 (including root folder), Files: 512 (Max. 255 files for one folder)

My '09 has the CF card, and it will only use up to 2GB.

BTW, I have a usb stick I had knocking around in the MO and it sill holds way more music than I'll listen to in a year or so. Anything larger is a waste for me.
My daughter gives me a hard time because I still use a 5 year old iPod mini 4G. But the thing holds enough music I can listen to it for 2 weeks driving to work before it gets through the playlist. Plenty of space for my needs. :)

Yeah, I did see that part in the manual. Thanks.

So are you having a problem with not being able to access all of your music on the USB? What is the capacity of it? How many files are on it? Are they all WMA, MP3, M4a?

Seems to me that one of the major advantages of the usb stick over the iPod is that the car doesn't appear to charge the iPod, so you'd need to leave it plugged into a charger for long term use. True you can't select by artist, genre etc on the usb, but I just want some music & don't want to be picking specific stuff anyway. The USB already only has music I like . . .
