Good morning all. I have a question that I hope somebody can answer. On our 2014 Murano LE there are two buttons on the hatch. The bigger button that opens the hatch, then there is a small round button next to it that doesn't seem to do anything. I looked over the owner's manual and unless I am missing something, I don't see anything mentioned about that button.

Wow I did not know that until I went outside and tried it. I never figured that little round button would do that:eek:

See page 3-11 & 3-12 it's called "lift gate request switch" and it allows unlocking while having the intelligent key in your pocket. No need to press the lift gate button on the intelligent key. A similar button is on the front door handles and it's called "door handle request switch". One push will unlock that specific door and two quick pushes will unlock all doors. Neat feature!

I've never used that button since the rear hatch will open regardless as long as the key is in your pocket. In fact, lol...I forgot it was there until this post. But it allows you to unlock the doors from the rear.

That's been my experience also, that's why it took me so long to figure out what that small round button was for, in fact I previously asked the same question in another thread. Even after I found out what the button was used for I have never used it because the as long as the key is in your pocket the hatch will open with the larger button on the hatch that opens it. The small round button on the hatch seems very redundant.
