Called in to get the Emissions Recall scheduled on my 2015 Murano and the sevice lady told me there is also now a recall against it that came out Sept 6th for the ABS Actuator. She didn't have any amplifying info on it but said it had a Sept 6th date . . .

Thanks for mentioning it. Sounds like something to get done quickly.

, they have the 2017 Murano on that recall list and it hasn't even been released yet. That's comforting for those waiting for a 2017!

Take care!

Jim

On 9/7, I got a call from the local Nissan Dealer Service Advisor regarding this recall and was told since it is a safety issue, I need to bring it in asap. I have established a good rapport with this guy and took him to lunch once just to be sure I will be taking care of.

I took the car in yesterday and upon inspection of the ABS actuator, I was told it is within the engineering/manufacturing spec which was also confirmed by the factory specialist on Nissan Techline. They gave the car a clean bill of health  They also reprogrammed the OBD for the Oxygen sensor issue.

For some, the car has to stay at the dealership until parts arrive if the ACTUATOR inspection fails! Nissan will provide a rental in the meanwhile!

Yea.....if they're calling the customer versus the other way around then they must have a pretty high concern with this. Which would seems obvious since it's ABS related. But the very first recall was also ABS related and it was such a new recall for the vehicle it literally took weeks for the dealer to get the parts, at least for my car. Obviously there are different levels of attention depending on the impact of the issue. Which makes sense.

It's supposedly the ones with Intelligent Cruise Control. Which means I have to tell my wife that her beloved (maligned by me) brand new car has a fire risk recall. Lovely.

Does anyone know where to look for the actuator that could leak?

I called Nissan Canada and they told me that for now they havent identified the problem in Canadian Vehicles, what i wonder is, aren't "Canadian" Muranos assembled in the states anyways?

When the first ABS recall came along, mine didn't need anything replaced, whats such a pain is that my closest Nissan dealer is 450km away from where i live, im not even doing the O2 Recall until im due for service but if i do get a call for this one..... i have no choice..

I sent a tweet to Nissan Canada. They replied 1) contact my dealer to see if my vehicle has an open recall, 2) recalls are V.I.N. Specific. Obviously the responder has his or her head somewhere the sun doesn't shine. Manufacturers have database information that shows vehicle specific options and trace data on all safety related system parts. Also, suppliers are required to keep trace data on these parts that indicates manufacturing date and when they were shipped to assembly plant.
Nissan needs to get out ahead of this before they have an issue like G.M. on the ignition switch.

I called my service guy who is usually pretty good. He said they had to look at it and check the serial number on the abs actuator and then punch it into the computer to see if it's a bad one and that they can't even start ordering the new units until this coming Monday. He said it's not a critical situation unless your abs or brake light comes on and stays on. Then you should bring it in and leave it regardless of whether they have the part yet or not. I'm going in Thursday to have it checked to see if I even need to worry about it.

Just took my Murano in and my serial number was on the list (that list was all the info the dealership had so far) Service manager said the actual recall paperwork isn't expected till late October or early November.
Wow, we will be driving down to California in late Oct for the winter and I will be using the cruise control feature. I will have to contact Nissan Canada and see what useless information I can get from them. I will have to try and get them on record as if something happens on the way down, 1000 miles from nowhere, I can image what "rental" I would be given!
Hopefully this is not the case and we all know if our vehicles are affected sooner than later.

i didnt have the paper as well, bu the dealership inspected my car and order the needed parts. as long as the ABS light is not on i am ok per the dealer. once the light turns on, i was instructed to pull over and call them.

Im really surprise they just didnt give a rental.. oh well...

I just got off the phone with the Service Manager where I bought the Murano(he said that my Murano is on the affected list, build date 03/16 with adaptive cruise) and he said he is aware of the issue BUT they can NOT do anything until Nissan Canada gets its act together. He said if the light comes on, pull over and call the Nissan emergency number and have them tow it in.
I am going to push him tomorrow to order the part. He was NOT that sympathetic to my concerns about driving down south for the winter and having the ABS light come on in the middle of NOWHERE!
Anyway, I have also opened a file with Nissan Canada to explain the potential issue of me driving down and the Murano breaking down in the US and having to get me a rental or it breaking down NOW and then giving me a rental that I will drive down to California and let them get me my Murano back.
Anyway, the usual Nissan support.
The Saga continues......................................................................................................

Update from Nissan Canada:
They are aware of the recall (Sept 9) and I am to bring in my Murano, it is on the affected list, and then they will scan the barcode on the ABS unit and that will determine if it needs replacement and if it does, they will order the part. Unless the ABS light is on, they say continue to drive.
I will update tomorrow later in the day.

I talked to my dealer to-day and am going for the visual check of the bar code on the ABS module Thursday. They have a list of potential vehicles with suspect modules (mine is one), and a list of modules that are suspect. Hopefully, I don't have a bad unit.

I just got back from the dealer. My Abs actuator has no serial number on it. That means that they can't confirm whether it will have an issue or not. The Asst Service Mgr explained that currently they have no recourse for sold vehicles with no number but any like that on the lot have to be fixed. He expects a revised recall to be issued to address the units with no numbers. In the meantime I was also instructed that if the abs light comes on, to pull over and call Nissan Roadside Assistance for a complimentary tow back to the dealer and then I would be given a rental. Not very reassuring. So the vehicles with no number aren't safe to sell but the ones that their customers are already driving are?
