So took wife’s 2016 in for 25k service (oil filter rotate) and the service guy was surprised with the low mileage for 5 years old. He said i should trade it in. Wife loves it and said if we would we needed to see what next generation looks like Not just a refresh of what we have.
he said that he heard from sales folks nissan might discontinue Murano. It is wedged between Pathfinder and the new Rogue.

now I didn’t go talk with a sales person but after coming home I started thinking, I guess Nissan hasn’t had any photo drops of next gen.

thoughts? Rumors?

My prediction is that the Murano will be gone while the automotive market converts to hybrids and electric vehicles. Nissan is not advertising it, and it is not a volume seller and is not logical to sell to fleets. It's certainly a bit of a shame, but a "prestige" vehicle like the Murano is a hard sell by a brand whose reputation is selling cars to fleets for cheap and giving owners very low resale value. I am very happy with my '18 SL--best seats in the business and a great engine, but I don't believe the Murano is a real moneymaker for Nissan.

If I were advising Nissan, this is the time they need to reintroduce the XTerra to ride the big wave of outdoorsy sports that have been expanded by Covid distancing. And this does not mean a tough "costume" on an Altima.

I just traded in a Murano 2018 Midnight Edition with 16,600 miles and had it since Nov 2018. I traded it for $26500 in Miami and bought a 2021 Murano Platinum financed $16700 on a 60 months / 0% Interest. You might just want to check out your nearest dealership.

I actually did something very similar, though mine was a leftover 2020 Slate Grey, Platinum with 22 miles on it. Both black wheel upgrade and Sun/Moon upgrade, which up my way, seemed to be hard to find with both. The dealer did mention that people would shy away from the price tag, when they could find a SL for thousands less. I worked a sweet deal with cash and financing.

If Nissan needs a more competitive SUV to market, since we know the Rogue considerably outsells the Murano, that would make some sense as a move.

I'll be happy to keep my 2008 and 2009 BMW 3-series, and my 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 105,000 miles. All were paid for some time ago, and all run beautifully. Gas is still cheaper than car payments.
