My friend has a 2006 nissan murano had his battery unplugged for a few days plugged it back in now there's a car with a key on the dash and only cranks but won't start. How do you reprogram the key? Also I have a MDI2 will that work with it if I need to reprogram it?

Is there a reference(s) in the index, at the end of the owners manual, to Intelligent Key and adding one to the car? This may be worth a try.

Just looked thru it don't see anything about reprogramming a key.
It's not clear what you mean by "reprogramming a key." Keys are registered to the BCM and to register a new key you typically need a working key that's already registered. There's a reset procedure in the owner's manual when the immobilizer is tripped. Give it a shot or two and see if that works.
