The main keyfob I use has always had issues starting the car. Generally it does not seem to work from any normal distances. In the last few weeks it only works if I stand right next to the drivers door...making it useless. The doors all open from a distance and the hatch, just can't get the auto start to work properly. I knew I was wasting my money but got a new battery and still the same issue.

My second key fob stays in my bedroom and because the bedroom is at the front of the house I used to be able to start the vehicle without so much as even aiming the fob in the general direction...probably about 50 feet. Now that one has gone all finicky as well. I can stand right at the window and continually lock and try to start the vehicle with no success at all. Very frustrating as this is the weather I really need that sucker warmed up.
Does anyone know where in the vehicle the device is? Could it be a bad receiver? This issue really pisses me off.

Battery quality varies even if new depending where and who makes them, how long they were on the shelf, etc.; don't assume a new battery is good, check voltage it should be +/-3 Volt. They're not was they used to be!

If indeed it is a battery issue, then why do the door locks and rear hatch work perfectly, even from long distances? How often are you changing your batteries, cause I am on my third one over less than 2 years, and still continual issues

Take it to the dealer; it could be the keyfob or one of the electronic components. I have a few problems with my vehicle but not this one yet...! Good luck.

Now both keyfobs seem to be working, although my main fob still can't start it from any great distance. This morning she fired up from inside the house and a good thing as it is -24 celcius with a feels like -36 c brrrrrrrrrr

I suppose it is similar to the bluetooth issue....sometimes it works and sometimes it fails....Frustrating, but I can live with it.

Mine only works if I can see it and am within 100 ft. That not very convenient if you're at a mall, in an office, basically not at home. Other vehicles that I installed after market starters would work from a half mile away inside a concrete building and let you know on the fob that it was started. I guess engineers in Japan don't care about convenience for us in North America. One of my few complaints about the Murano.

Never seen a factory remote-start with 2 way messaging to tell you it started, nor any factory system that worked much further than 100 ft. Seems that the factory range is similar to the power lock range on the key fob.

You can try this old trick: just touch and hold the keyfob under your chin while pressing the buttons. Your body acts as an antenna and the range is therefore extended a bit. I have the exact same weather here...

I thought this was crap, I was with the sales person when we went to the main lot to find a car, She was walking around with the key fob under her chin. I looked at her and asked her what she was doing an that is what she told me, Funny thing is right after we talked the horn started to honk, The car was like 4 rows over from where we were.
