Tiberius and Jonathan--- When you reboot the unit, do you lose the previous settings for audio, nav, home screen, etc? Also, have either of you also had the volume instability issue with Bluetooth phone calls?

Hey Skipper> If you enter the diagnostic mode and then exit right after, the system will automatically reboot without changing any of your settings. Selecting a factory reset, however, will.

Thankfully my Bluetooth volume has been OK, haven't noticed any real issues with it. Seems the volume settings for music and phone calls are controlled independently, so even if you're listening to radio at a higher volume, once a call comes in it will be at the last volume setting from the last call which you can then adjust once in the call. So I do find I sometimes have to up the volume when I take a call but it doesn't fluctuate in the call. Not sure if that helps at all...

Thanks Tiberius! That answers my questions very well. Glad to hear the settings are not lost. And I am confident you don't have the volume issue... You would definitely know it if you did. I have a Platinum, but I'm guessing the head units are the same as the SL. I'm also assuming the volume issue isn't happening on Platinum only. Glad yours is okay... Volume wise!

I have experienced this issue a few times on my 2016 where the MO won't connect to bluetooth. I was able to get it to reconnect without shutting off the engine by holding the physical home button and rotating the volume knob left and right at the same time until the head unit enters self-diagnostic mode. Exiting this mode reboots the head unit and then allows it to connect to bluetooth. Obviously this is an unacceptable workaround but what I've found is that as long as Bluetooth on my iPhone is turned on BEFORE I get in and start the engine, it seems to connect without any issue. If I turn on the car and then activate Bluetooth on the iPhone afterward, I have a problem. So try that, If it works for anyone else as well then it's a livable solution for now.
Can you tell me what you are calling the physical home button?

I have problems with my BT connection about 25% of the time in my '16 Platinum. Very frustrating. I even called Nissan Consumer Affairs this morning about it along with other Nissan Connect issues. Not sure what will come of that call but it made me feel a tad better.

Hold the menu button down and at the same time turn the volume knob back and forth. Should enter diagnostic mode within a couple turns.
I tried this last night and it worked, but it then gave me 2 options and I had no clue what to do so I backed out.....I can't even remember what it showed, but what exactly do you do when that screen pops up?

so do nothing, but it seems once in and once you back out it will reboot, and that should establish a connection...

Only paired my wifes iPhone a few times, and never had any issues - but then, not paired for any length of time. I have an LG (Android) and from time-to-time it does disconnect. The only way to pair it again is to turn the car off, then back on. It's only happened a handful of times over the last year though.

Seem to be experiencing the same issue as everyone else. Two months in it's getting pretty frustrating. I have an iphone 6s. All in, I would say my phone is able to make / receive calls about 50% of the time. I've tried the re-boot through the diagnostics menu a bunch of times but it's not a guaranteed fix. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It's the same with bluetooth audio (connecting to the same phone) which is also hit and miss (though sometimes the audio will work, but not the phone calls - and vice versa). Also, sometimes, while the audio works and is playing, you can't actually navigate through the bluetooth folders on the phone to change the files. The system tells you the bluetooth folders don't exist, though quite obviously they do as it's currently playing audio files stored in said folders. Clearly the implementation of bluetooth on this head unit is a complete mess.

On a side note, also have the similar problem with my ipod which I run as a connected USB device - there's a separate thread on that cluster as well! Right now, this hasn't worked in a couple of weeks which is getting really old.

I've used similar set ups in a few other cars - including numerous rentals - since at least 2010 and have never experienced these problems. Not sure how you can put out such a shambolic product in 2016.

I really don't like the phone system trying to call my cell phone when I start the vehicle. Sometimes it lasts up to 3 minutes and I can't get it to stop or listen to the radio. yesterday was about the worst I have experienced it. I had to make 3 stops over a short period of time and every time I restarted the vehicle it would call my cellphone. I have spoken to Nissan about this and it is a known issue with no apparent fix.

I can only assume it has something to do with the I phone 6.
What I can't understand is what situation initiates this behaviour? Sometimes it never happens for weeks on end and then it just won't stop happening.

I have an old ipod permanently plugged into usb 2, but can't think that has anything to so with it...or maybe it does?

I posted the same issue on another thread. To be clear its not just the Iphone 6. i had the same problem with an Iphone 5s, as well as my current Iphone SE. i have reset the phone in the vehicle and reset the blu tooth in the phone and the problem still exists.

Last night I left to drive home and tried to make a call and see that once again the phone has not paired with the vehicle. This time I took the phone and went into settings and low and behold the bluetooth option was turned off. I did not physically do that and the phone paired up not 2 hours earlier. One has to wonder if something in the Iphone 6 when trying to pair actually shuts bluetooth off?

I don't know if this information will help.. but I'll just add this either way in case someone does find it useful.

I own 5 different phones that I've collected over the years...and since I got my Murano I've used many of them as my Media Players while using my main phone as my GPS/Phone device. And I've noticed some differences between them...

New: Google Pixel
New: Galaxy S7 Edge (Current Main Phone)
Old: Motorola X Force (2015)
Old: Nexus 6 (2014)
Old: Galaxy Note 3 (2013)

Of all these phones.. the Samsung phones have always connected and then DISCONNECTED repeatedly about 2 to three times before reconnecting finally when first starting up my car and connecting the phone via Bluetooth.. This was more frequent when using apps like "Google Music" or Pandora.. If I just connected them via Bluetooth but had no app running.. the phone would just disconnect and reconnect once. I also noticed that if I did this (connected phone with no app running) the phone would do the reconnect thing if I either received a call or made a call..

When using my S7 Edge, I've noticed that if I'm running Google Music and the phone does the reconnecting and disconnecting thing.. the first time it connected.. there was no information on my nav screen on the current music being played.. but after the 2nd or 3rd reconnecting .. all the information on the song that was playing would show up.. Also, I could then navigate my playlists, Albums and songs that were within the Google Music app once it was done doing all that.

The other phones however, Motorola X Force, Google Pixel, and Nexus 6.. all never did this once. I never did anything different when connecting the phones via Bluetooth and then running a music app.. no matter what I did.. I never had a connecting issue with these phones.

One last thing.. my little brother has an LG Stylo 2.. that phone does the same thing that the samsung phones do when connecting... especially when running apps like Pandora, IHeart Radio and Spotify. If we connected his phone with no apps running, and then made a call .. the connection would reset and then we were able to make phone calls and listen to music and stuff like that.

again, i bet this information has been posted many times, but I just thought I'd share this in case someone might find it useful for whatever reason.

After the software update, I also have not had any of the connection issues that I had been experiencing. Also, the volume instability is much improved. While the volume issue is now tolerable, it still is not nearly as natural or as stable as what I have in my other Nissan vehicles. Overall I am satisfied and thankful these problems were finally addressed.

How does one update the software?
