My summer ride is my 2010 VW GTI equipped with a 6 speed manual transmission. I installed a Nuspeed Cold Air Intake and a Revo Stage 1 chip. Everything else is stock and I intend to keep it that way (for insurance purposes, lol).

I know the group you're talking about. It came down to blows one time with them and that's all I'll say.

I can certainly relate to the guys throwing a V8 in an SVO. You're right, the turbo 4 is what made it special and you're basically turning it into a regular ordinary Mustang by doing that. Same with the BBC Gns. IMO they're just another Regal.

No 12 bolt yet. This poor stock axle stood up all these years to 1.4 sec 60's at the track and it finally gave up. I haven't had the money to take it to the track in a lot of years. I don't even know what it would run with the new combo and weight reduction and I may never find out. It's not even close to being legal at the track and I was lucky to get a handful of 10 second runs. So with this in mind I'll either do a 9" or do a slight upgrade to 32 spline axles on the stock unit and keep it away from the track. My father spent tons of money building up the stock 8.5" 10 bolt so he would not have a "Ford" part in his car even though most of the aftermarket 9" axles were never in a Ford. To me, Domestic is Domestic. Some of my best competition was from the old Fox bodies.
Agreed. I into whats fast, import or domestic. What suspension are you runnin and what trans? I've always wondered if anyones ever put a manual in a GN. My buddy is actually selling his 86, really nice but its the older turbo setup. Think he wants like 10 grand for it.

It was done a few times years ago but the car took a huge performance loss. One was a GN and one was an '89 TTA. The TTA couldn't do better than 15.1 in the 1/4. Mph went up by a couple mph though. Same with the GN, it just suffered in the 1/4 with a manual and since they will never turn or stop well, they focused on 1/4 only.

I'm running one of Bruce Tollie's fully built billet 200-4Rs. If I had it to do over again I would've spent half the money on a TH-400 many years ago. I'm using the Wolfe Bar setup on the rear and completely revised front suspension to correct the horrible geometry from the factory. Upper and lower control arms, mounting points, etc have been changed. For drag racing it wasn't necessary but the street manners are so much better.

Are you sure your friend's car was maybe an '84-'85 "hotair" car with the turbo on top and no intercooler? That's how mine originally came. At one time back in '94 I was competing for the quickest "hotair" GN. Unfortunately while I was competitive, I was only going 12.8 lol.

Are there any good sites to look at the SVO Mustang? Talking about it over the last few days has gotten me really interested in it again. Plus it would be nice to do a Domestic 4 banger to go head to head with the import stuff around here. I have so much turbo stuff laying around along with fuel pumps, injectors, etc, that it may not cost a whole lot to build a fairly quick SVO.

Good info. We should trade LOL!

Mustang SVO Website Sponsored by the SVO Club of America are svo enthusiasts. They're full of really good info but they're kinda svo nazis there and frown upon alot of stuff. But its a pretty good site. Really knowledgeable with svos and their history, some good tech support there.

TurboFord.net is an awesome site that focuses mainly on the ford 2.3T but they put them into various vehicles like rangers, pintos, etc. Full of the best tech info here.

Yea your right it is a hot air car. Think it is an 85. Thats a pretty good setup on your gn. Ive thought about a sleeper malibu wagon street car with the Ttype engine.

I got rid of this Ford F250 that was previously posted:

It was replaced with a Ford Excursion. The family is growing and I needed interior space more than a truck bed! I did keep my vanity license plates. :)

I also picked up this toy over this summer. I'd been riding an '85 Honda Shadow for years. It was time to upgrade. The previous owner installed a ton of after-market parts, including great sounding Vance and Hines pipes.

Some of my rides

The space shuttle but I just work on it wish I could ride it. 2005 Yamaha R1, 2007 Harley Street Glide, 2008 Rhino with my 1984 Chevy El Camino in the background, 2005 Arctic Cat 650V2. Some of my toys! :)
