I live in FL and need new tires for my 03 SL

I am looking at Yokohama Parada spec x,
Faulkin Ziex 912, Hankook ventus sold by the dealer. I have Michelins cross terrains and hate them!!! very loud. I will take all recommendations. I want a very quiet ride.

Thanks to all

I am close to pulling the trigger on Cooper CS4's based on some other threads in this forum, and a little bit of other research based on those threads.

I've had the GY Eagle LS from day one on my '03 and have been very happy with them. They were pricey when they came out (and maybe still are) but I'm on my 2nd set and like them.
They are good all around tires and can handle some performance and not too bad in the rain.

Parada Spec X are my next tire. Since you live in Florida and likely don't have to deal with snow, the Yokohama H4S or V4S are good choices from what I've read.

Check http://www.Tirerack.com for reviews of all the tires they sell - I've used them for info for years and always been very pleased with the result.

You need to know what your priorities are:

Handling?
Noise control?
Smooth Ride?
Traction?
Longevity?

You may not get all of them in the same tire.

I recently installed a set of Michelin Latitude Tour HP on my 2006 S and I really like them. I don't have to deal with snow, but they handle well in the rain and they are very quiet. I think they are less of a "truck tire" than the Cross Terrains. They were a little pricey, at about $200 each at Costco.

gonna experiment

I've been through 2 sets of Goodyears. Each set lasted about 35K ( I'm at just over 70K now). The Goodyears were ok, but with wearing so quickly and now they are pretty loose in the rain even above the wear bars it is time for a change. I'm in NC with some good roads and some not so good roads around.

My other car (among several) is an Infiniti I-35. I put Kumho tires on it and they have been excellent. I'm at 50K on them and expect them to last to 70K. The local Nissan dealer sent a coupon book out trying to drum up business. They carry Kumho tires that fit the Mo and have a buy 3 get 1 free deal. I'm scheduled to go in tomorrow and get them installed. I'll let you know how they do.

I ran Michelin LTX series tires on a '99 Blazer and got almost 60K miles out of them, which is unheard-of mileage for me. When they got down to the last 10% of legal tread, they got very slippery even though they still had tread, so I replaced them with Kumhos before they were technically "worn out".

The Kumhos were a very good tire; quiet, decent traction, and also pretty durable. I was impressed with them - they offer a good value for the $$.

I have run Michelins a number of times and always had good service from them. One thing that I have noticed about all the Michelins I've had is that their highly flexible sidewalls allow the car to shift sideways just slightly when entering a corner - it feels like the sidewalls are "taking a set" to the side, and it's a bit unsettling until I get used to it. I haven't felt this slight sideways motion with any other brand of tire.

The '07 Murano I just bought had a brand-new set of Firestone Destination LE tires, and after a month of driving alternately on deep snow, packed snow and bare pavement (hey, it's winter in Colorado!) I'm feeling good about them. I'm running 40 PSI in them all around and the ride is still good.

Tires I use

Since I am in Canada (Snow does matter) I use the following and I am very Happy!

Spring/Supper/Fall

Yokohama Parada Spec-X

AT Tirerack they are 10 buck less then the OEM Goodyears.... This really improved the driving of my MO

Winter:

Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V1

Same as above $10 < OEM equipment

Great tire, works very well in Snow

Cheers

I'm kinda considering the Goodrich long trail t/a tires from costco for $150.00 Have not checked our local costco if they have it there. Checked reviews on tire rack seems just as good as the oem maybe better in some aspects they are $136.00 advertised. Don't know if anyone had tried this.

Here in Colorado I see a LOT of the Long Trail TAs, and I've had consistently good service from BFG tires. One of my friends runs them on a Durango and likes them. I haven't run that tire myself but I've seriously considered it.

Check your local Sam's Club - they usually have a good price. But they may not carry your size.

If they're anything like the BJ's (basically same type of store as Sam's Club) out here they probably don't have our size. I saw one or two 18's that were not close to our size.....if only we had 16's or 17's....hmmmmm. I feel bad for the new Mo owners with 20's, look great but hard to find and expensive to replace.

That's well put!

Just as an aside, I'm not convinced that tire sizes in the 20-inch range are a good idea mechanically. Wheel/tire combinations of that diameter add more unsprung weight and more inertia from rotating force, putting more stress on the suspension and braking systems. IMO it's being done for cosmetics, not because it makes a lot of sense. I'm perfectly happy with the 18's that come stock on my '07...and the also IMO, 65-series profile is low enough on a vehicle of this type.
