I have a new to me Murano.
1) The water pump just went out and I was wondering what else I should have my mechanic check when repairing it?

2) The car is parked in a tropical climate for anywhere from a couple of months at a time to fice months. What steps would you take to assure the car doesn't have issues when we start it up after two to five month absence?

Thank you!

My question would be, is there a leak of coolant on ground, coming from exhaust, or in the oil? That mechanic suggested water pump? Is it overheating?
And when you say slipping? You mean when you drive it? That could mean transmission fluid needs changing and filters or too late and CVT going bad. Just things I would look at.

If your transmission is slipping, you have bigger problems than a water pump. I trust the tranny fluid has been filled as well. Consider doing a fluid change on the CVT transmission. If I were changing the water pump I'd change the fan belt and the thermostat at the same time. I'd also check the radiator hoses and if they're getting soft, replace them.
I'll suggest the mechanic do the CVT fluid change while he's replacing the pump.

No coolant on the ground. The heat sensor isn't showing the car is overheating.
When we accelerate there seemed to be a noise and at times it was slipping. CVT has already been replaced once.

Thank you all for the questions.
Temp gauge is not showing over heating.
No coolant on the ground.
White smoke is coming from the middle and back of the engine.
When accelerating there is intermittent slippage and noise (more prominent the last time we drove it).
We've had the engine quit a couple of times and that is when the smoke came out.
Coolant and CVT was low and added before the last quit which was less than 10 miles of driving downhill so probably less than that since we didn't accelerate much.
