I have a 2003 Murano SL that messed up on me. I went this morning to unlock my car, and nothing happened. So I went and opened it with my key, sat in the car and tried starting the car and no start. It cranks but won't fire up.

None of the accessories are working, like locks, interior lights, windows, etc. The radio works when the key is turned, and you can hear the fuel pump engaging. When I turn the key on but do not start, all the dash lights turn on, but none go away like they usually do.

It's the car symbol with the key in the middle light that is bugging me. It always stays illuminated even when I manually lock my car and get out. It's always on.

Can someone please help me with this? My Murano runs fine, and this happened out of nowhere. I noticed the critical light a few days, but I thought my keyless remote needed the battery replaced. I replaced the battery in my fob remote, but nothing. There is no power coming.

Please help.
Thanks, I appreciate it.:(

Yes its cranking strong and all lights come on, i dont think that the battery is the issue. Its a little old and i have been driving this for a year now without any issues. Like i mentioned few days ago i noticed the immobolizer light on but car would unlock/lock and start right up.

Maybe its a fuse?

@nitely no i dont have any other key just one and only one remote. Honestly the dealer is the last option im considering since i would have to tow it there and then the dealer is gonna charge an arm and leg.

And also im 120% sure its not the battery now since i took a brand new battery from my g35 and put it in the murano, no difference. This is definatly an electric issue or something with the key, but then again that shouldnt cause the locks or windows to not work

Any ideas guys?

Sorry for the late reply, today i thought that maybe theres DTC's stored in the vehicles obd2 computer so i got my hands on a computer and it came back with three codes, P1610, P1612 and U1001. I researched into it a bit and it seems like the main problem is the U1001 code.

THis is a CAN communication problem with the vehicle or maybe a bad ground. Apparently this code caused the other 2 P codes to come on as well. I tried cleaning and sanding the terminals of the battery just now. I will try starting it tomorrow since the battery is now dead. It definatly needs a boost.

IF you guys can add to this i would appreciate it. I was thinking of maybe calling a professional electrican to take a look at the wiring and maybe fix the issue without the need of a dealer?

I am getting it towed today to a very good diagnostic specialist who has various computers so i know he'll get the job done. Its not a big issue. I believe the BCM is acting up which triggered the other 2 NATS codes and locked down the vehicle. But who knows. Ill keep you guys posted on the solution!

I personally dont like going to the dealer, yes they do the job right but they rape you. I have a tow guy too who charged me 100$ to tow it across the bridge to brooklyn which is a decent price considering the toll is almost 15 dollars.

So the specialist found the problem! apparently someone (previous owner) spilled something which looked like soda on the dash and that made its way to the BCM which caused the Security system to lock down the car and make everything else stop working as well.

He says i need a new BCM which will cost over $300 from the dealer and he is gonna charge me $200 to install and program the keys back. But i told him i will buy my own used BCM which shouldnt cost more than $100.

soo total job is gonna cost around $400 :( ahhh mannnn.

The murano is running fine now without any issues. The problem was the BCM and if you guys dont wanna believe me its your choice. If it needed just the key id registration using Consult II then all the other things the BCM controls shouldnt have lost power. The car should have simply not started because the key was not recognized and not stop the locks, windows, wipers, headlights...etc to not work

I trust the tech and what he told me since i have taken cars of friends there before and he always solves the issue whatever it may be for a reasonable rate. He tried initializing before telling me to replace the BCM and he said it was no good. After i gave him the part the car was ready the same day and he gave me the old one. So i dunno why he would lie or try to rob me.

Whatever the case may be i got my Murano fixed and this was my issue. Hope this Thread helps others who face a simialar problem in the future. Thanks to all for the helpful advice.

I dont know how it happend, its weird but i guess shiet happens. I was seeing the red key light for a few days but i thought nothing of it.
Damn the previous owner haha.
Aerospace circuitry is much more complex probably and should be taken more seriously.
