just replaced OEM screen with colour screen. Need help!

With much help from the great guys on this forum (especially zebelkhan) I replaced my OEM orange screen with a 7" colour one. I will take some pics later on
I installed a TV tuner also and now get TV running to the screen DVD player to come later on.
I need help with an interesting issue though. The screen has buttons and the IR sensor on the bottom. This is all blocked by the OEM screen cover/shroud which is good cause it looks factory now. Problem is that the remote control doesnt work now because the sensor is blocked.
Is there anyway around this problem?
