My 2016 Murano 101k miles has been idling rough lately on and off. Only a slight vibration and from what I can tell some extra engine noise. I brought it to 2 local shops who couldn't find an air leak and is saying they think it's normal vibration. I brought it to a Nissan dealer and they cleaned the throttle body and re programmed the idle still didn't notice a change. Today I decided to remove the black box in front of the engine to see if I can notice anything and I found a loose hose. The hose with the white mark on it is disconnected and I'm not sure where it's supposed to go. Im assuming this may be the culprit to my rough idle? Any suggestions would be appreciated! (I've been driving the car since 2020 when it had 50k miles and I know the vibrations can't be normal because its never felt like this in the past.)

Without seeing where the other end terminates, I can't be 100% sure, but I bet it's the CVT vent/breather hose/tube that the previous owner modified to prevent crud/water from possibly falling into it. I believe that tube goes into the CVT housing somewhere in that area.

With 100,000+ miles, if the sparkplugs haven't been changed yet I replace them, along with replacing the PCV valve.

wow just got pcv valve replaced and it feels sooo much better! thanks for the advice!

Glad things improved. I should have mentioned that the CVT breather tube doesn't connect to anything away from the CVT, it's purely for venting.

Here's a thread about that tube, as well as a picture from it so you can verify what you're seeing is what I'm suspecting it is.

I have the same year Murano and have been experiencing this same problem. Random hard idle with slow response. I was just about to do the same thing, have throttle body cleaned. I ran across the information on resetting the throttle and I've noticed a change for the better. The only thing is that randomly I'm still experiencing the issue. Its like the throttle isn't always opening correctly when a accelerate. I can actually hear the difference. Sometimes the throttle roars with slightly rough idle, and when it doesn't, it quietly accelerates with power. Hopefully if this is performed you may see a difference. Good luck!

To relearn the throttle position sensor (TPS) on your 2016 Nissan Murano, follow these steps:
  1. Accelerator Pedal Released Position Learning:
  2. Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning:
  3. Idle Air Volume Learning:
    • Perform the “Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning” first.
    • Start the engine and let it idle for at least 20 minutes.
    • Turn off all electrical loads (lights, A/C, etc.).
    • Allow the engine to idle for another 10 minutes.
    • Turn off the engine and wait for at least 10 seconds before restarting it.
Remember to follow these steps carefully to ensure proper TPS relearning. If you encounter any issues, consult your vehicle’s service manual or seek professional assistance
