When you remove the resonator, how did you block the hole in the bottom of the stock air box?

I was thinking of duck taping it up just to hear how it sounded. Not permently.

 

Removal process: I first started with no airbox at all as I had the JWT filter removed already. There are several clips on the wheel well that have to be removed. I took them all off up to the shock tower. There are also some screws under the air dam in front of the tire that hold the wheel well cover in place. There was one bolt holding the resonator onto the frame. I forget if I removed that from inside the fender well, or from between the fender and tire, but I believe it was from the latter. The resonator is too large to pull up through the engine bay, so I slid it out through the fender well. I had the tires pointing straight, but it may have been easier with them turned to the right. The resonator had two clips attached to it that hold the fog light wiring in place. I cut/pulled these clips off and feel that my fog light bulb replacement will be much easier now!

Did I tape up the hole? Nope, I figured if it wasn't getting enough air from under the hood, it could pull more from the fender (favorite trick of mustang owners). Just came back from a 300 mi trip and am liking the sound. No whistle, but a little louder growl than stock. And best of all, it's free!

I took off my grill and hacked up the plastic blocking the air flow into the engine compartment.

Wow, no wonder the pop charger isn't getting wet... I thought that was already open. Do you notice a difference?

You might want to make sure the filter isn't getting wet in the rain, or the oil might all wash off onto the MAF.

 

How about this for an after market part.

A flexible tube with a connector that mates the the airbox where the resonator connects, and on the other end it is screened.

You remove your resonator, connect the tube (snaps right in place) and then run the tube for more air in the wheel well say. The end is capped to keep out mice.

End results, more cold air (power), a little more sound, who knows?

The water would have to get past the grill first. I don't think rain would be able to gett in. Maybe if you directly spray water to the front with a hose on full blast aimed directly at it...There may be a chance water might get in there.

True you'd get a lil more cold air.......but it would be very dirty air. Do you see how dirty our wheel well gets? The filter would get cloged up faster than usual.
