2007, non-Bose audio system. The owner's manual seems to say the cd player can play cd's with WMA or MP3 files instead of Red Book audio but I have yet to make it work. MP3's look like they are playing but there is no audio. With WMA's the cd player acts like the cd is blank.

Is there some special trick to get this to work or does it actually not work at all?

I have a 2006 with the non-Bose system, and I don't think the CD player reads MP3 files. I bought an IPOD adapter for approx. $225.

I have a 2009. Tried the Compact Flash. Some files which can be read by my laptop does not show up when played in the car.

I tried different conversion softwares to convert the files to WMA or MP3, but some works some does not.

Can't figure out why?

My understanding is that only the 6 disk system in 06 and up Murano is capable of reading MP3 files. Single disk systems are not.
