I am getting it towed today to a very good diagnostic specialist who has various computers so i know he'll get the job done. Its not a big issue. I believe the BCM is acting up which triggered the other 2 NATS codes and locked down the vehicle. But who knows. Ill keep you guys posted on the solution!

Hope he has a Consult II computer. You should have had the car towed to a Nissan dealer. Anyway, P1610 indicates a NATS (anti-theft system) malfunction. -Nissan Dealer- needs to use Consult II. Tech needs to do "Key ID Registration and C/U Initialization".

Let us know how you make out.. Of course it could be issues like you mention but we will see. As I mentioned I feel you set off immobilizer and all you need is "Key ID Registration and C/U Initialization".

.

And if you Murano is AWD, it needs to be trailered (or dollied) - not towed.

I personally dont like going to the dealer, yes they do the job right but they rape you. I have a tow guy too who charged me 100$ to tow it across the bridge to brooklyn which is a decent price considering the toll is almost 15 dollars.

So the specialist found the problem! apparently someone (previous owner) spilled something which looked like soda on the dash and that made its way to the BCM which caused the Security system to lock down the car and make everything else stop working as well.

He says i need a new BCM which will cost over $300 from the dealer and he is gonna charge me $200 to install and program the keys back. But i told him i will buy my own used BCM which shouldnt cost more than $100.

soo total job is gonna cost around $400 :( ahhh mannnn.

Huh, I thought you've been driving this car for a year without issues. Suddenly this? Why are you so scared of the dealers? I guess you don't think the chip key is your problem.....Good luck.

As for me, I try to steer clear of dealers if at all possible. With the case in hand though I would be using the dealer. Why suddenly did the issue development.. Regardless of what the OP was told, good chance all the Murano needs is a charged vehicle battery and "Key ID Registration and C/U Initialization" using Consult II.

I minimize dealer visits as a way to save $, but when you run into a problem like this, it's necessary to go where the right tools exist. Look how much of his valuable time he has spent on this board when he could have had the problem solved. That time and inconvenience is worth something.

The OP seems convinced that he has a fully charged battery; I wouldn't make that assumption unless I had just taken it off a a charger and tested it with a multimeter to witness more than 12V. He also seems very reluctant to visit the dealer, but I share Bill's reasoning - it's time.

I dont buy this for one minute. The BCM is pretty buried, getting soda into it would be tough if not impossible.

NATS antenna amp failure or a bad battery causing a memory issue leading to a re-learn being needed is far more common.

No need to be scared of dealerships. Chances are, we've seen your problem before. Lord knows we've seen what happens when independents try to fix cars they dont understand. I wonder how your guy will perform the key reset with out access to ASIST and the key PIN decoder? To the best of my knowledge, there is no aftermarket support for that.

The murano is running fine now without any issues. The problem was the BCM and if you guys dont wanna believe me its your choice. If it needed just the key id registration using Consult II then all the other things the BCM controls shouldnt have lost power. The car should have simply not started because the key was not recognized and not stop the locks, windows, wipers, headlights...etc to not work

I trust the tech and what he told me since i have taken cars of friends there before and he always solves the issue whatever it may be for a reasonable rate. He tried initializing before telling me to replace the BCM and he said it was no good. After i gave him the part the car was ready the same day and he gave me the old one. So i dunno why he would lie or try to rob me.

Whatever the case may be i got my Murano fixed and this was my issue. Hope this Thread helps others who face a simialar problem in the future. Thanks to all for the helpful advice.

Cool beans man! :D

Glad to see this get fixed.

Hard to say exactly what the soda did to the BCM. Might have shorted something out momentarily and caused a latent failure in the system. Although it worked for a while without failure, the part the soda damaged obviously quit working. I see this kind of thing periodically on aerospace circuitry when technicians don't follow ESD policies. Every once in a while, a part will be mishandled and the same part will come back with a failure sometime in the future.

Yea man, im just glad its up and running again.
I dont know how it happend, its weird but i guess shiet happens. I was seeing the red key light for a few days but i thought nothing of it.
Damn the previous owner haha.
Aerospace circuitry is much more complex probably and should be taken more seriously.
