Since this is the 2009+ forum and I have an 2009 MO with the key fob and now off hand by reading the service manual that the dealer MUST program the fob I have to say your are mistaken or you are thinking about the 2008 and below models which don't apply here.Better double-check that response. On the 1st generation the KEY must be dealer programmed, but the FOB does not - it can be programmed by the user.
Someone please check me on this - I'm not confident of the answer on the 2nd generation Muranos.

You may want to price it around to different dealers. I had a third fob programmed for my Max and well as the Mo and the dealer only charged $40. One hour labor as no parts are required if you bring in your fob. I purchased my extra fobs from eBay and had no problems with them. You must make sure the numbers match though. The OP has a 2011 Murano! FACT, NO, he cannot program the fob himself. Dealer needs to do so. Dealer will have to have all fobs for the vehicle in question and will then reprogram all of them at one time. Dealer usually charges $100+- to do this.
