I'm looking for any recommendations for dash cams. My budget is <$200 (or thereabouts).
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
Same here, I had the rexing v1 for over a year now and no issues (first on my rogue and then I switched over to the murano). I bought a hardwire kit from amazon and its wired directly into the cabin fuse box, and I tucked away all the wiring behind the headliner and behind the A pillar without removing anything. I was thinking on upgrading to the rexing with the rear camera but the reviews said that the rear camera has no visibility at night. The regular rexing for the price you can't go wrong.I have a rexing v1 with invisi cord (draws power from the rear view mirror) for the murano. Got the recommended memory card as well. Love it.
I use the Rexing V1 Third Generation 4K for the front and the Rexing V1 for the rear. The front uses Invisicord and hooks into the rearview mirror - it hides behind the mirror perfectly and is essentially invisible. I hooked the rear camera into the plug back there. V1 Third Gen records in 4K, takes a 128GB microSD card so keeps several hours of footage before recording over. Have had several months, never had any issues, even caught someone else's accident perfectly on camera once....very happy.I'm looking for any recommendations for dash cams. I'm interested in this setup. I don't want the camera visible otherwise i'll get my window smashed and the camera stolen. Can you provide a pic?
Hey, boss, which invisible cord did u get?I have a rexing v1 with invisi cord (draws power from the rear view mirror) for the murano. Got the recommended memory card as well. Love it.
Did they show on the display that they were recording? Maybe they stopped working and didn't realize? I always keep the display on to make sure its recording. Also, I've notice that the time on mine falls behind, I'm guessing is from the powering on and off but still shouldn't happen.I have been a long term Rexing users until recently, one of them failed on a friend of mine by "not recording" for months. She found out by getting into an accident and wanted to pull up the footage and found out there is nothing. I later, went on check my other Rexings (I have 3 total). One of them had the same prpblem, and the others were having the date&time being off and some glitch. They might be ok to start with, but I'll definitely check it from time to time if do go with that.
Here's the set up - you cannot see the camera from the passenger or driver side at all unless you lean forward and actually look for the it behind the mirror. If looking at the vehicle from the front on the outside, the camera is still visible but it blends into the black mirror because it is almost directly in front of it. Someone would have to actually be making an effort to look for cameras to notice it. I have brought my vehicle into a couple body shops, as well as at Nissan appointments - so far no one has ever noticed it (at least not while it was recording them; and judging off of the things they are muttering to themselves as they drive the vehicle over for me to pick up once service is done, sounds like they never did notice it was there lol) Any wiring I just wrapped up in dark tape so it looked more professional. Camera turns on the moment vehicle turns on. Turns off about a minute after vehicle turns off. Records in 3-minute loops (that is adjustable however). There is no delay or break in recording when camera starts a new recording loop - every moment is recorded.
That looks great! Did you need to buy any accessories to get it mounted like that? Does the unit come with the mount for the rear view mirror? Also, how does it get power from the mirror? Do you have to take the mirror apart?

Hello,I assume you ruled out the storage card as the source of the problem? I expect the cameras are designed to withstand heat and cold, but memory cards maybe not?
I have a 2015 SL with the homelink mirror and I'm thinking of getting one. Is Amazon a good place to buy?
Thanks...
edit> Oh and how easy or hard to swap memory cards while mounted?
edit2> Oops - more questions
-How well does the Rexing suction mount work?
-and, the V1 3rd gen and V2 have WiFi - how well does that work, and would my router see it as a generic storage device or would I have to run apps on PC or phone to access it?
Hello,
Yes, I have bought both my Rexing V1 and my Rexing V1 third gen from amazon - no problems there. If there's something wrong with your device, contact Rexing through Amazon and they'll send you a second one no questions asked and a prepaid shipping label for the faulty one. If you are planning on getting power to the camera via the HomeLink mirror, just make sure you buy the Invisicord connection as well to do that.
Extremely easy to swap the memory cards out. Card slot is located on side of camera. Just push on it, it pops out.
No suction mount is used. Rexing gives you a little plastic piece that attaches via double-sided tape to windshield. The camera can then be easily clipped on and off from that permanent mount. I have never had any issues with the mount falling. It is stuck on there extremely securely, the tape is very strong.
Never used the WiFi features so can't speak on that.
I'm not sure if I've ever seen the Rexing dash cams in the lightning deals, but I do know that the V1 dash cam went on sale during this last Amazon Prime Day. I noticed it was listed for $69 rather than the usual $99. I checked on the V1 Third Gen as well but it looks like they kept that at the usual price even for Prime Day.Sounds good - thanks. I saw that Amazon sells a Rexing suction mount and just wondered if that might be a better option for some cars...
Edit> Forgot to ask - Amazon frequently has dash cams in their lightning deals but I haven't paid enough attention to brands - do the Rexings ever go on sale?
The only accessory you need would be the Invisicord connection - this is the link to the Mini USB Invisicord that I bought: Invisicord Products . One end plugs into the dash cam to provide the power, the other end has two pins on the end. If you have the Homelink mirror, there is a little box on the back of it. Just plug the two pins into there and it provides power to the camera. It is very easy; you do not have to take anything apart at all. Takes just a couple minutes.
Aside from that, everything else is included in the box. Rexing provides double sided tape that you attach to a little clip. That clip is then attached to the actual windshield. You can then clip the camera on and off from that base. Rexing also included a microSD card - I think it came with a 16GB (I might be wrong), but I suggest buying the 128GB or at least the 64GB (just so you have plenty of room).
Nice, let us know how that one works! No I did not get the fuse option when I ordered mine.I ordered a V2, waiting to see if the connector is mini or micro before ordering the Invisicord. Did you get the optional fuse? Doesn't seem like it should be needed but I suppose it can't hurt?
