Hi
I just noticed that on my 2011 SL the gas door button is the only one in the cluster that does not light up. Can someone check their 2011?

Also as for new features, the LE has heated rear seats. I not sure this was on the 2010.

Lack of lighting on the release has been a long time gripe by the community. I see that Nissan still hasn't responded to something this simple. Wonder if anyone has done an aftermarket fix for this.

Another gripe is lack of back lighting on homelink buttons on mirror.

Don't think it is a manual cable at the button end, I think that there is a servo involved somewhere. I could, however be wrong

@mafaneh: Yes!

If you guys think about it there can be a bit of reasoning behind not having those two specific buttons (gas cap and unlock all doors) lit.

When you are driving at night you wouldn't want to accidentally press those buttons to activate them ; maybe Nissan thought by having them not lit (not drawing attention) would deter people from for pressing them by mistake.

Furthermore,

1) Why would you need the gas cap button lit? If you are pumping gas you should have already opened one of the doors which consequently will activate the inside lights.

2) If you put the car in park all the doors will unlock therefor making the reasoning of having it lit redundant. If the car is in motion why would you want the ability to unlock the doors? Are we planning on jumping out if the driving dynamics get "interesting"?

My .02 cents worth!

1) You can turn on the main cabin lights just as easy. Judging by your signature I don't know if you have a second generation but the ambient lighting inside 2009+ year model is enough to shine on the unlit gas button if you must really have it be seen. Plus why I would never make my better half pump gas for me. :29:

2) All doors automatically lock once you reach ~+20mph. Plus the lock button is in fact lit, just the unlock bottom portion is not. :)

i dont see why its a problem with either... if u can see the lock button then u know where the unlock button is(not like its very far) and on the 2011 sl the gas button is on the top row of buttons next to a dummy button that does not push... so if anything u hit the dummy button and know the gas button is to the immediate right of it.
i have yet to pump my own gas since getting my murano and i have never had a problem getting to the button so the guy can pump my gas...

i must say i did like having at the base of my seat on my altima so i could just reach down and pull it up.. was never an issue to me not having that one lit either... maybe its just me...

I'm just glad the hatch button is deactivated when the car is out of park. I would hate to pop that by accident at highway speed.

edit on 2/20/11: noticed a cool effect when closing the hatch and car was out of park. The rear camera gives you a sky to ground roll effect as the hatch closes. So the hatch won't open out of park, but will close out of park.

Hmmm....

I honestly can't follw the "gas door button light" discussion.

I only have two buttons without light. One is the gas door and the other one is for the front parking sensors. The buttons feel different so I know which is which, but I don't feel the need of pressing either of them while driving.

I always stop my car before filling up, open the door and press the gas door button then if it is too dark.

Sorry, but I don't see the need fixing this "problem"

I'm actually wondering that nobody brought up a discussion about the light and wiper controls. These aren't lit either. I had cars were they were lit.
Did it make any difference to me? No, it didn't

Just my 2 cents worth... :)

Ok, what the heII is a front parking sensor?? I call that...the windshield!..lol. Anyhooo....All of Nissan power doors work the same way. They won't open unless the car is in Park but will close while in Park, The Quest is also that way. As for the gas button, I agree...there's no need to light a button that's not needed while driving IMO. Once the door is opened the interior lights will be enough. Some people are also upset that the HomeLink buttons are also unlit in the Titan forum.

HVT ... I agree, I do not think a light is necessary on the gas door opener button. Where a light is needed is a light that indicates the foglights are on. Yes, you can look at the fog turn on switch on the stalk but it is not clearly visible at night. As for how the Murano locks and unlocks the door locks automatically, well, that is something that you can have your Nissan Service Dept. customize to your particular liking. You have 4 choices. Read the following:
-------
I gave the following instructions to the Tech and within 5-10 minutes he changed my 2011 Murano LE AWD to Mode 2. Dealer did not charge me and your dealer should absolutely not charge you.

Service Manual (BCS-18). I told them/my choice was to put it in MODE 2:

DOOR LOCK : CONSULT-III Function (BCM - DOOR LOCK)
AUTOMATIC DOOR UNLOCK

SELECT:

Automatic door unlock function mode can be selected from the following in the mode.

• MODE 1: All doors are unlocked when the power supply position is changed from ON to OFF

MODE 2: All doors are unlocked when shifting the selector lever from any position other than
the P to P position

• MODE 3: Driver side door is unlocked when the power supply position is changed from ON to
OFF

• MODE 4: Driver side door is unlocked when shifting the selector lever from any position other
than the P to P position

That should be available to be changed by the driver through the NAV system, not just by the dealer...that sucks. However, isn't MODE 2 the factory setting? I ask because when test driving ours it locks automatically and unlocked when put back in park.

However I do see that you CAN disable or enable the automatic locking feature yourself with just a few steps. At least they did that.
