Hi everyone:
I’m a new to the forum and a new owner of a 2018 Murano Non-bose with navi. As we all already know the sound system is pretry bad and I would like to upgrade. I already switched all the speakers. It sounds a little better but It needs a little more. I’m thinking on adding a Kicker Key 180.4 mini amp and a powered subwoofer. I’ve been researching for several days but I haven't find a way to wire the amp to the the stock head unit becuase I can’t identify the speaker cables in the factory harness. I’ve been looking for an aftermarket harness that I can connect or a wiring diagram of the factory Harmess.
Can anyone help me or have any susgestions? Any help will be appreciated.

@chrisvv_18,

Hope it helps...
good luck!

This is for the 2015 murano, I am guessing that the 2018 murano is the same

FYI, the wiring diagram is from the service manual which you can buy online, then look for section AV

Also, check out the thread "Android unit install", there are lots of info there that might be useful.

If you are keeping the stock head unit, but want better sound, I would suggest getting a DSP (Rokford Fosgate DSR-1), this will improve your sound dramatically.

Hi @assad, In 20 pin wiring diagram I can see only (2-5) (11-14) pins connect to 4 door speakers, I don't see any pins which connects to dash speakers.

Is it connected to Front door speaker Pins, am I missing anything obvious?

Hi rkj,

The front dash speakers or tweeters are connected inline, this is because the crossover is attached to the tweeter, please see the diagram below

Thank you @assad for the quick reply, that makes sense.

I am planning to start my AMP addition to the factory radio next week, I am looking to add an "Alpine KTP-445U 4-channel Power Pack Amplifier" but want your suggestion on location to place the AMP, Is there enough space behind factory head unit (preferred location by me) to fit this AMP there?

The AMP has dimensions : 7-7/8"W x 1-1/2"H x 2-9/16"D

Keep in mind that the stock head unit is double din and takes most of the space in that area, at the bottom of the head unit, you have the A/C module. I don't believe it will fit in that area, even if it did, it will be a very tight fit. But, you will have to experiment and see for yourself, since I never tried it.

Also you need to make sure that you have good air flow around the amp, since most of these amp can get very hot.

Other area where you can place it are inside the center console at the bottom (lots of space there), in the glove compartment, or under the seat.

Here is another suggestion for a small footprint amp, I had it before and it is an excellent small amp. It is little bit more powerful than the alpine and supports both 2 and 4 ohms.
This will not fit in the dash, but you could screw it to a small carpeted board, attach strong velcro to the bottom of the board and place it inside the center console at the bottom; to the right of the accelerator pedal, there is an area that is easily accessible, and lots of space for a small amp, and also very good ventilation.

That's a nice & better amp suggestion @assad , the reason I am tilting towards Alpine is due to the form factor & the ability to draw power directly from stock factory audio , the Murano Audio fuse is rated @20A & Alpine needs 15A , which seems to be ideal for my use case as I want to avoid more wiring changes/addition which I need to make for Kenwood directly from Battery source.

Hi @assad , need quick help on my Alpine power amp installation with battery, ground & remote turn on wires.

As I understand Pin 7(Accessory/remote turn on) , Pin 8 (Ground) & Pin 8 (Battey constant 12v) in the 20 pin harness as shown in your harness diagram, Is my understanding correct?

Hi rkj,

On the 20 pins connector
- Pin19 is +12V (+B) - Green
- Pin7 is ACC - Pink (This is your remote turn on)

As you can see on the connector the GND is not present, Nissan decided to use the GND on the radio antenna connector for GND, but it is not easy to tap into that wire. You can use any metal around the chassis, as it is the same GND.

What I did for GND, I used a wire and connected it to the metal chassis around the unit, there is a hole on the upper right hand corner, this is what I used for GND and use a nut and bold to secure the wire. Make sure you sand it to expose the bare metal so you can have a good connection (see picture).
( Don't forget to disconnect your negative battery terminal as a safety measure)
