How to beat a Dodge SRT10 pickup truck...

It's a MO alright. You recognize the hood line, the familiar CVT sound but not this out of space roar. This one is probably heavily modified especially if it can beat a SRT10 on a strip run. Poor CVT!

You can also hear the guy laughing at the end of the clip... :2:

Quite hard to believe but it looks authentic.

Dodge eats MO dust...

I was looking at the clock - 12 sec quarter mile? No, impossible.........but the car definitely had CVT...

You can also see the reflection of the dash in the windshield with the familiar light sensors and air ducts. It definitely is a MO.

Yup. I noticed the air vents and light/temp sensor of the passenger dash. It's kind of funny but I was waiting for the shifts that's common in drag races....

Did you notice the name on the center divider? Breakaway Dragway is a 1/8th mile IHRA drag strip located near Panama City, Florida. The MO in the video did the 1/8th mile in 10 seconds. That is no big accomplishment.

This guy was pretty sure to beat the SR10 since he filmed the event. But the SRT10 pickup runs high 8 to low 9 seconds on a 1/8 mile strip so it should have beaten the MO. The only 2 explanations are that the SRT either had very bad traction or this drag race was fixed.

This pickup consistently runs 13.8 to 14.2 secs on the 1/4 mile at something like 125 MPH. It is fast for such a heavy beast.

Me and my 12.531 seconds(in the 1/4) pickup truck

That's my 2001 F150 Lightning(stock supercharger with engine mods and slicks), over 2 tons in weight and can be driven daily(not on slicks of course) and has over 100K on the odo.

At rest
Hey Lightninrod, you've got a Ford Lightning!! So do I, that's why I go by Lightning. Mine is a silver 2002.

One thing that's very strange about this video is that the front of the vehicle goes up when the car launches.

To me, this would imply that it is a rear wheel drive vehicle.

But since it definitely is a MO (very clear in the reflection at the end of the run) with a CVT (very distinct sound), and since it does not burn any rubber on launch, the detective in me thinks it also is an AWD. Any FWD, AWD, and RWD nose will lift when you step on it unless its suspension is tuned for the track and we know that the MO is definitely more of a smooth cruiser than a drag race contender.

A buddy took me for a rip in a 'SuperBee' Dodge truck today, Supercharged Hemi beast. The whine from the supercharger is ridiculous, but that truck hauls ass like an M5. It is definitely not as fast as the M5, but it sure puts you back in your seat in a similar fashion. It is an awful truck to drive though, any little bump and the rear axle bounces around like it's breaking free. But man can that thing haul.

Short of dropping an entirely new powertrain in the MO, motor, tranny, chopping several hundred pounds of weight (at least), and supercharging the bejeesus out of it---even still, the Dodge would win the sprint.

nissanlove, sorry about that!

Don't worry, you're not alone. I also filter out Joe & Grip's messages so I receive an average of 1 or 2 per week. :2:

I noticed the mo cut a very good light, which makes me think the other guy was asleep at the line. Need to see reaction/time slips.

Reminds me of the time I ran a p/s against an a/gasser. I cut a great light (This was before reaction times) and was out on him. I think he forgot to shift and blew his engine. I was watching all this in my mirror. He-he.

Exactly what I was thinking. This video really doesn't show when the SRT-10 left the line. For all we know, it could have been sitting at the line a good 2-3 seconds before taking off, and even so, it would have still whooped the MO's butt.

Lightninrod and Lightning, it's nice to see some fellow Ford fans here as well. Are you guys members of www.svtperformance.com? I post from time to time there using the same user name.

Here is my baby.
