You probably got the other plenum gaskets. The plenum is actually 2 parts. I only bought the longer one and never separated the plenums. If you were to take everything apart down to the intake manifold, you'll get 3 gaskets; i.e. 1 longer one and 2 shorter ones. If you want to save some time, don't pull the plenum apart. Just follow my instructions and you'll have the 2 smaller ones left over.

ok. so I finally got to work on my murano today and once again I wanna tank you all for the help and warhammer for this awesome write up. i printed some of the pics to use as a reference and man what a diference, they did help alot.

unfortunately i found a problem while changing the spark plugs, some of the plugs had oil, 3 of them were all covered in oil when I pulled them out. 2 in the back and 1 in the front.

Do I need to replace the valve cover gaskets? or both, covers and gaskets?

I got to know my muranos engine a little more and seems like this is another task I can perform.

thanks guys

In order to change the spark plugs, what parts do I need? Please advice.

1. Spark Plugs NGK PLFR5A-11 - six of them- part number - 22401-5m015 ?
2. Plenum Gasket - part number 14032-8j10a Did I get the correct part number? Is this intake manifold gasket or something else? Did I get the right gasket or?

Anything else?

My other concern is that I would like to avoid the idle volume relearn process. Did you disconnect the TB when you replaced the spark plugs or you were able to move it aside without any interference and still connected?

actually you dont have to disconnect it, you should be able to move it aside and still be able to change the spark plugs with no problem.
I took advantage and changed the spark plug boots and the PCV valve as well.

Warhammer is just one of the numerous knowledgeable DIY excellent resource guys here in this board. Always ready to help out. That's why I feel lucky to have found this forum in my times of need. Thank you NissanMurano_Org and the members that helped out day in and day out. You know who you are !!!!

This is VERY impressive. I've been dealing with this issue for years - but since I'm the only driver, I've just popped into neutral and done a quick restart to reset the problem. Lately it's gotten worse and I've decided to bite the bullet and replace the TB... Thanks for all the effort you put into this!

Thanks guys! I'm not on the forum as consistently as I've been in the past. So, I've obviously missed some opportunities to comment and help.

For those that are experiencing oil in the spark plug tubes, you need to get the new valve cover assemblies. They come with the valve cover gasket. Be sure to lube up the new rings on the covers to allow them to easily slip over the tubes. Forcing them on dry could damage the rings which would lead you back to square one.

After doing the work, I noticed the throttle hesitation came back a couple times. I talked with Turbizzy (sp?) and he said the ground points under the dash aren't that hard to get to. I'll be pulling, polishing, and retorquing those when I have some time in the future. He also notified me of another ECM ground that I should also take care of just in case. I'll be posting some how-to pics on that one when I get to it.

I'm glad this writeup has helped out a bit! :)

Be patient with the relearn procedure. The picture I posted helps a lot as the worded description sucks. You'll have to warm up the engine to normal operating temps before the relearn can be performed.

Don't be surprised if your ECU throws a code when you light up your MO for the first time after the TB is replaced. Mine complained of unusually high RPM, don't remember the code. After I did the relearn, I erased the code with my reader and it never came back.

Don't forget your TB gasket!

I replaced my throttle body and did the relearn procedure but i still get the high RMP revs with the car barley moving. A quick shut off and start again fix the problem. Not sure what now.. But at least i'm getting a new tranny, its at the shop now, code P1778 (step motor Function)

Reporting back, Good news!! Dropped off my car the Monday morning and it was ready by Tuesday afternoon. Picked it up Wednesday morning with a brand new transmission. Its been a week now and so far i've not had the high RPM revving issue and the pick-up and response from the MO is so much better. Thanks to the guys at Hackensack Nissan. And no thanks to the jerks at Medowlands nissan who refused to help me and took my $100 and never attempted to replace my transmission under warranty.

Sounds like you had the "other" failure mode where the RPM's went up and the vehicle barely moved. In my situation, I would press the gas pedal and the RPM's would stay low and the vehicle would barely move. Not surprised the CVT had to be swapped out.

Glad to hear it's resolved!
