IMO the cross terrains suck ass. I have a set on mine that I am fixing to replace after about a year on my car. I have had more flats with these tires than any other tire I have ever had on any vehicle. They have worn very bad even after 2 different alignments by 2 different shops with good machines. I will never buy another set of them.

I guess I hit the same pothole going and coming.
I remember those printouts when I had a lifetime alignment on my Maxima. Wish Firestone still sold those - it was essentially unlimited wheel alignments for the initial cost of about two alignments. So worth it!

Did you notice any symptoms that prompted you to get another alignment?

Nothing Eric, I just do that when putting on a new set of tires...and other times, this is the third time this 06 has been aligned. After my Z tire episode I'm kind of anal about alignments ;). Had a nail in one OEM a while back that I plugged and just picked up a screw in another and while I had the wheel off to plug it, I noticed it was getting close to the wear bars and they have been giving me a cyclic noise since day one so figured it was time for the Michies. I've always had great luck with Michelin and have been waiting for the OEMs to wear off to get them. After 500 miles on these I must say I love them so far. Quieter than the OEM and as compliant a ride. I'm not seeing an mpg difference. The 03 got 21.7 on daily commute then this 06 got 22.5 on the OEMs, today I noticed it's still getting 22.5. So far so good. We'll see in about 5k.

Got michelins after 80000 km's of my GY's.

Much better grip on the road. A bit noisier than GY's. Overall goood.

My Michelin cross trainers lasted only 57,000 KM. I talked to a michelin dealer whiosaid that these tires have not been making anything close to the 100 K that the dealer said I should expect. When challenged about this difference the delaler tried to blow me off with the usual "it depends on tire inflation and alignments" get out of jail free junk.

Since the dealer does all my service I asked if he had ever found the vehicle tire pressures to be low or the wheels out of alignment. He had to admit that he had not so he droppped the excuse patter and went straight to reality which is too bad you lose since neither we the dealer or Michelin are going to provide any rebate for poor life.

The tire sealer I spoke to said there are two new choices other than the GY or michelin. A cooper tire adn a new Firestone tire.

Has any one found any experince on these tires?

I was just at Costco and they told me the Michelin Cross Terrains are now discontinued.

Lotta bad information on tires out there.

1- The Michelin Cross Terrain has a 65,000 mile warranty and has had that warranty since the tire was introduced. If your dealer won't honor the warranty (And it's just a prorated warranty...means a discount on the replacements, there is no such thing as a rebate on any tire.......same warranty as other companies) then call Michelin.

2- There are several tires available for the murano. The dealer is, if not crooked, slightly bent. He doesn't want to sell you a tire unless he gets a big markup.
There are 19 tires rated at Tire Rack that will fit the murano, including Yokohama Parada SpecX, Goodyear Triple Tread, etc.
I have already said that IF I needed tires for a Murano, I would buy the Yoko Parada. Would they last 65,000 miles? I wouldn't care. See the end of the post for my reasoning.

3- Costco is probably wrong. Michelin says they have the tire, in the Murano size, as they have had since introduction.
Cross Terrain SUV | Michelin Tires

I ran the Cross Terrains on my Murano. I found them to be an excellent tire, but they only had about 30,000 miles on them when I traded the car. Lots of tread left. They rode softer and quieter than the GY LS and had better dry traction and a LOT better wet traction.
I don't worry so much about long mileage. There is only one way to get long mileage.
Hard compound.
Hard compound does not have the traction of a soft compound.
Traction works in ways you may not think of.
I know that my stopping power was not compromised with the Cross Terrain. But I wouldn't feel that way about a 100,000 mile tire.

So I try to compromise...tho compromising something that may have more to do with saving your life than any other thing you put on your car is a delicate balance.
Putting cheap tires on a car is the same as wearing a $10 helmet on a Motorcycle. You will probably get away with it. But if you don't....
So I typically spend a good bit on tires.....and don't care if they don't last beyond about 30/40K miles.
They are so much more than just round black doughnuts.
They are part of the suspension.
They are my last best chance to miss an accident.
They are an insurance policy.

Yes I also noticed that Costco had the tires online, thats where I first saw them. I told that to the person working the tire shop at Costco and they told me they were surprised that they were online. They told me they no longer have them in stock (in store), and they were discontinued. They told me they might be able to order some for me. But warned me that could be issues if I had any warranty issues. Since if a tire had to be replaced I would need 4 new tires.

Its very weird...Costco or sams club here in vegas does not stock any tires for the murano. Must be ordered and takes a couple of days. But I don't get what he means regarding warranty...If they can get it its covered under costco not michelin warranty. And you dont have to get 4 if you only want 2. Sounnds like BS. Even if you get a blow out on one tire they can order just one tire under their warranty. You may need to wait but if they can get 4 they can get 1.

I would not recommend the Cross Terrains. I had those on my 03 for about 60,000 miles. They were fine for about 10,000 miles, but then started getting extremely noisy. By about 30,000 miles, I thought I had bad wheel hubs or bearings or something binding. Each check pointed to the tires. By the time I got rid of the tires, they rode very stiff and made so much noise it was almost impossible to carry on a conversation in the car. I replaced those with the original style Goodyear tires and now all the noise is gone.

Canadian Tire also told me the Crossterrains are discontinued. They tried ordering both the black and white lettering, but both had been discontinued. I ended up getting a Hankook Tire elsewhere.

Costco, Canadian tire was wrong and Homer was correct.

The Cross Terrains have not been discontinued.

Got the Michelin tires installed on my 2009 SL AWD yesterday. What a change from the OEM tires. Much smother ride, good cornering, very quite.

My OEM tires lasted 40K before a nail got through the rear one. Had to change all the four as it was time.

Some suggestion

Can some one suggest me which tires I should buy and where can I get the good deal. I live in Boston , MA ...Thanks in advance.

Tirerack would be a good place to start. I got mine done for $930 at Discount tires with certificates.

There are lots of choices like the Michelin Crosterain, Yokohama Parada Spex -X, Bridgestone Alenza, Goodyear Triple, Copper CS4, Kumhos.

Check the ratings at tire rack and make a decision based on priorities like

Road Noise,
Handling,
Thread wear

Excellent advice - I'd also recommend paying closer attention to reviews by drivers of vehicles that are similar to the Murano. A review for a Toyota Land Cruiser or NIssna Armada might not be applicable to the Murano, while one for the Acura MDX or Toyota Highlander might be better. Of course if you find reviews from Murano owners that is perfect.

You can also check reviews on Discount Tire Direct.

I'm going to have the cross terrains installed this week on my 07 Murano and have a few questions.

1) I was wondering if they are OK to use on the MO since they come with a T rated tire and these are S?

2) What is the main difference between these and the Michelin latitudes? I also considered the Toyo versado but really could not find much info on them.

3) I asked the guy at the store if these were back walls or the white lettered. He said they only come one way but are reversible. That seems to be wrong as there are two models. Can the white lettered ones be installed with the white letters facing in?
