I've seen this done in a few YouTube videos for aftermarket head units, but I'm wondering if it's possible to mirror my iphone to the factory head unit?

To me this would solve the crapiness that is Apple CarPlay and also get Waze on the screen.

To mirror your smart phone screen to your car screen is Apple carplay and Android auto.

There is not an app or anything software-only that will give you mirroring like that to the factory unit let alone aftermarket aftermarket is using projection that is Apple carplay and Android auto.

I know that is Apple CarPlay and android auto but with those "tools" you're limited to only the apps that are compatible. Where as a true screen mirror would display whatever is on my iPhone screen.

I know this is not possible with the stock head unit, you will need pure android head unit or a head unti that has hdmi input in order to do that.
There is an android app called EasyConnected that allows you to mirror iphone or android phone over bluetooth or wifi.
