I find it interesting that a lot of times people only give you a latitude and longitude address -- how come?

We use coordinate when it is much more convenient under some conditions. Real address and coordinate are for different purpose.
When you do outdoor activities, such as hiking, you will find the coordinate is much convenient to gather the people at the right location. The tool you gave is not as good as google maps, even though, google map can only give you a approximate real address, when you are driving, sometimes you have to use coordinate for the last one mile navigation.
