No Drill Front License Plate Mount

I just moved to Missouri, which requires a front license plate. My Murano is brand new and I am trying to avoid having to drill in the bumper to mount the frame to place the front license plate on.

Does anyone know of mounts or brackets that do not require drilling on the Murano for a front plate?

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum!!

Don't be a wimp!! :p Drill the holes, mount the plate, and be done with it.

It's only a car, it is not your first-born. ;)

Oops. Are you telling me that I was NOT suppose to tap my child's skull and bolt his social security card to his forehead? Damn. I dulled three tapping bits trying to get deep enough into that hard head of his... :D

Never had a front plate on any of my Chrysler mini vans and was always getting stopped, ticketed or what not. When the same cop stops you for the third time, the "somebody-caught-it-on-their-bumper-and-I-have-a-new-mounting-plate-on-order" story, just won't fly anymore. Besides, I was tired of having the plate stuffed next to the seats or sliding around on the floor, just to prove that I actually had one. When the "first born" got her license just before we bought the MO, I decided I better put a plate up front. At first I hated it, REALLY HATED IT!, but then found a way to actually love it. I purchased a vanity plate and a really nice frame. It makes me smile every time I look at my MO and see "PHONEBX" on the front plate. Take care!

Really? You guys have no qualms about drilling two holes in the bumper of your first born, I mean, brand new 2009 Murano if it can be helped? (I don't have kids so this will do for now).

I've seen it on other cars forums around the web but they are usually custom for that model.

While I would have preferred to NOT have a front license plate mounted on my (once) brand-new MO, I realized it just was not worth the hassle from the police. They might not stop you today or tomorrow, but they eventually will nail you. That's a given.

And no, there is no custom, removable license plate rig for the MO that I am aware of.

Drill the holes. It will only hurt for a second, the wounds will heal, and your MO will not hold it against you. :4:

Do what I did. Close your eyes while you are drilling.....:D
Yeah, right. _  _ That explains the two extra holes behind your license plate. :2:

Having lived in Washington all my life, which has always required the front plate (at least in my driving lifetime) I've never understood the big deal about having to mount the plate.

Granted, if you had a classic show car or something, I can understand being really picky about drilling holes and whatnot, but on an SUV? Does it REALLY make a difference?

Although, I can see the argument if you were planning in the near future to move back to a state that didn't require a front plate, you really can't "undo" this install job since there will be holes that would have to be plugged up and painted...

You have to admit MO looks alot better without the front plate.
um.... except if you remember a lot of my posts, I have never liked the look of the MO anyway! :p Particularly with the stock "clown-smile" grill (which is why I had ordered a new grill even before I took delivery of my vehicle). If a front license plate can take your eye away from that grill, then perhaps it's actually an IMPROVEMENT! :D

But I understand that many people on here are in love with the MO's looks, and in several cases is WHY they chose the Murano, so I guess you might have a point for "those" people... ;)

Well, I bit the bullet and put the front tag on.

I guess I'm on the other side of your situation. I have always had my tags in a state that does not require a plate in the front. And now having to do this to my car for the first time, it just feels so "tacked on."

As for what the big deal is, for one, I bet it lowers the resale value to drill right into the bumper. Maybe not. And as for it being an SUV and no big deal....Come on. Have a little pride. This isn't a PT Cruiser

You are right. I had my car appraised and the current value is $24,783.92. I was informed that if the front bumper was not perforated the value would have been $24,784.47.

Damn, if only I had known.

All kidding aside, the value of your MO is NOT affected by the two holes in your front bumper, unless you move to a state that only requires a rear license plate then it may not be desireable.

HAHA! Good point... :D

Of course, you know that on the PT Cruiser forums they're saying "Come on. Have a little pride. This isn't a Pontiac Aztec."

But then what can they possibly say on the Aztec forum? :2:

When I got my 04 home I was so proud I began inundating my different forums with picks of my pride and joy.

One person said, oh look, a PT cruiser!
:16:
My reply was, dam, I could have saved 25k by buying one!

After that my boys started calling them Portable Toilet Cruisers.
