When I saw Phoenix54's posts on installing OEM Nav, I decided to make the same thing. Phoenix54 was really very helpful inventor :)

It took around one year or more to find all the required parts, and I was so patient to collect all of them!

I tried so many times to follow PHOENIX's instructions but I haven’t had the chance to see my project completed as he did, as I was getting all the information on my NEW screen but the CLIMATE control and the outside temp were not showing up on my screen, but PHOENIX has kindly given me the solution of my issue.

I was completely unable to find CAN-L within my integrated connector but PHOENIX told me to go again and have another look at my integrated connector and try to find the VERY IMPORTANT COUPLE (CAN-H/CANH) and he said that CAN-H and CAN-L both HAVE to be there someplace but I was totally depressed!!!

PHOENIX said that they should be a twisted pair, a blue wire and a yellow wire wrapped around each other, Remove some of the black plastic electrician's tape from the harness behind the integrated display connector and count how many wires are in that bundle. They HAVE to be there someplace! THIS WAS THE KEY :)

Finally, I FOUND them 'twisted pair' a blue wire and a light PINK wire wrapped around each other, then I’ve realized that they are CAN-H/CAN-L, then completed the whole thing again and turned out great.

ONCE AGAIN, THANKS PHOENIX FOR ALL YOUR HELP.

NOW, the display functions EXACTLY as it would have if it left the factory as a MO with color display and OEM navigation. All functions work including maintenance reminders, heating/AC display, radio display, outside temperature, etc.

MANY THANKS TO PHOENIX XXX

Here is picture of my weird integrated connector!!

Congratulations S-N-I-P-E-R!! :2: Nice job, and kudos to you on your tenacity to see this project through to completion. I've kind of lost track, but I know of at least three others besides myself who have now successfully replaced their orange, integrated display with the color display and factory OEM navigation.

Two important things to note here are:

1.) The CAN-L wire in the integrated display connector in S-N-I-P-E-R's wiring harness was PINK, not YELLOW as documented in the 2006 Murano factory manual, and

2.) S-N-I-P-E-R DID NOT have to replace the AC/Audio switch assembly in the console for the OEM navigation to be fully functional. Anybody else attempting this conversion can save some money there!

Cheers S-N-I-P-E-R!! :)

So he did not have to swap out the controls? That's VERY interesting.

Hey S-N-I-P-E-R: Put together a button control list would you? I would be interested to see what buttons do what for your navigation controls.

Thanks!

I would assume the functions are in the same place, but the buttons would be "mis-marked" for OEM GPS. i.e.

FUEL ECON = DEST
H = ZOOM +
M = ZOOM -
TRIP RESET = ROUTE
E/M = GUIDE VOICE
MAINT = TRIP

S-N-I-P-E-R, call you confirm??

Thanks!

Warhammer, I found the AC/Audio switch assembly with bose Radio for 2007 SE Murano fits exactly our models but it plays MP3 :eek: but unfortunately they lost 'Enter Button' so I'm waiting for another one. I believe that it's pretty cool to load 1 CD with a lot of mp3zzz :4:

Phoenix54, I can't zoom in, zoom out...etc, I can only load the map and find my location accordingly.

Functions are not in the same place folks.

FUEL ECON = Doesn't Work.
H-M = Doesn't Work.
TRIP RESET = Doesn't Work.
E/M = Doesn't Work.
MAINT = Doesn't Work.

TRIP = TRIP1 - One more Press = TRIP2 - One more = FUEL ECON - One more for MAINT and the last press to clear the screen.

I have to go through the setting to load the MAP :(

I'll keep you updated when i get the 2007 SE AC/Audio switch assembly W/Bose 6 CD CHANGER + MP3 (Have a look at the photo below)

One more time THANKS A LOT PHOENIX FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT, AND I WISH YOU ALL GUYS A HAPPY NEW YEAR WITH BEST WISHES FOR A HEALTHY AND WEALTHY 2010 TO YOU AND YOURS.

kind Regards,
S-N-I-P-E-R

I had figured that something like this was going to happen. It really doesn't make sense in a design perspective to sell 1 unit that has all functions but install different buttons on it for those systems without navigation. It looks like you'll have to get the navigation audio/ac unit and install it for the system to work appropriately.

And yes...you're right. The 06-07 cd system did read MP3's. I found this out after I had installed the 04 system. If I had known, I would probably have adapted the system for the 06-07 MO's into my 04. But... I still have a cheap alternative. I use an adapter in my tape player and plug my Zune120 into that. It sounds pristine!

About to pull the trigger on this. I will post these questions on all three of the threads.
1. Phoenix's spreadsheet - is it a wire list that details all of the connections that have to be made>
Need a copy.

2. Has anyone copied the nav manual?
need a copy

3. Has anyoun attempted to burn a copy of the nav DVD. Not sure whether one will come on my system or not

4. Has anyone made a template of the cutout for the nav control unit dvd opening?

Thanks for your indulgence.

Hello Mate, sorry for delay as I am in dubai-United arab emirates right now. I believe that you have to get another Display Control Unit with NAV because the one that tou already have is NON NAV.

If you have any other questions, please let me know!

Many thanks,

Navigation upgrade on 2006 S AWD with color screen

Hi Sniper,

It is my honor that you replied from Dubai, first of all i would thank you for your reply and hope we can resolve this issue and get Nav on my Murano and give it to my wife as gift with your help.

So, do you mean I need harness, antenna and DCU ?

Could you please tell me where did you get your Nav Harness ?

Thanks

Hello Srivick,

I hope that you can find the parts and install them quickly ;-)

You have to get the dashboard wiring harness with NAV from 2006 Murano in order to extract the sub wirring for NCU, DCU and the display unit. "I've got mine from one of the salvage yards in DUBAI"

Have a look at this website PAM's Auto, Inc. then press 'fresh arrivals' and choose Nissan Murano from the list. all what you need to achieve your project is:
1- Display Control Unit 'DCU'
2- Dashboard Wiring Harness
3- GPS Antenna.
4- Navigation Control Unit 'NCU'

Many thanks,
S-N-I-P-E-R

Thank you buddy, i am working on it, harness is only thing missing and dying to get one and i cant spend 1100 at oem, looking for something cheap

Hello Srivick, I've found the Dashboard wiring harness with NAV for 2005 Murano and they said that the price is $750 but after some discussions they went to $700.
The GPS antenna is available as well at $230. Thats all what i've found in this salvage yard today :confused:
I've been told that they will receive a fresh 2005 Murano 'fully loaded' within 2 weeks. :29:
Many Thanks,
S-N-I-P-E-R
