Thinking about upgrading the speakers on the Murano, does anyone know all the speaker sizes on the non-bose system with NAV?
I am looking at a set of Pioneer TS-D1602R rated at 4 ohms.Also, I just noticed that in the specs of the MB Quart speakers:
- 4 ohms impedance
Make sure the speakers you get are rated at 2 ohm impedance.
Correct!Hi all new owner of a 2017.
I was looking at the diagram that is in post #10....It shows the REAR speakers as coaxial....so if I was going to replace just the door speakers would this be correct.
Front---> 6.5 component. 2ohm
Rear----> 6.5 coaxial. 2ohm
Remember, car manufacturer want to save as much money as possible, unless you buy a premium package or platinum which comes with upgraded sound system, you will get cheap speakers. The stock speakers on the murano (S,SV) are very cheap, I bet you can get them on ebay for $5.I've yet to see manufacturer (Nissan, Bose, whoever) that didn't use cheap paper cone speakers in their vehicles. I swapped the speakers out in my old Honda for Focal and it was a day and night difference. While the Bose system in the MO is OK (heard alot worse) there is quite a bit of improvement.
The speakers will not draw power directly, it will only respond to the power it is being fed by the amp. So if you replace your 45W speakers by 100W speakers, you will only be able to get 45W out of it, since the amp will only supply that much.I'm not sure how much power is being driven from the head unit though to get into a speaker swap (without also adding an amp) or if there is any proprietary electronics attached to the speakers also. If anyone has any info on that I'd love to know.
On the murano, the pillar tweeter will need modification to mount, but it is not that difficult, it will not be a perfect fit, as long as it is secure, the opening is large enough to fit any aftermarket tweeter. And once you put the cover on top, no one cans see it.For Focal in a MO, I know the pillar tweeter would need modification to mount. Also don't see a matching center. Not sure what the results would be just swapping the door speakers or those in the back. Could be better, could be worse.
Thanks for the info my friend. Taking a look at the doors it doesn't look that difficult. I was going to go with Focals for the doors and picked up two sets of the PS165F (2 way) but think I might get a set of the component 2 ways (PC165F) for the front instead. Whether I go with the stock position of the Bose speaker tweeters or modify the sail panel on the door I'm undecided. Also thinking about dynamating (or something like that) for the doors while i have the panels off.Remember, car manufacturer want to save as much money as possible, unless you buy a premium package or platinum which comes with upgraded sound system, you will get cheap speakers. There is no proprietary electronics, as long as you match the impedance, you should be good, biggest factor is the amp, which I think is the most crucial part.
When it comes to sound, the sound quality will be affected by the weakest link in the chain (Source, Amp, Speakers), so to get the best sound quality you need to make sure all are in sync.

To get the most out of your sound, you will need to swap all 4 speakers, the center will not make that much of a difference. Most amp come with 4X channels + 1 subwoofer.
They are amazing sounding car speakers. I was familiar with their home audio speakers (which are also excellent). You can get them about 1/2 off if you shop around on ebay. I wouldn't put $1000 into speakers in a car, $500 is about my limit. I had focals in my Honda and the sound was amazing. Also taking into account I'm going to do it myself a huge savings from labor will be there.Never heard about the focal speakers, but $500 for the pair?? WOW, pretty expensive.
You must be serious about your sound!!!
Component (woofer + separate tweeter) will sound better than 2 way coaxial. The placement of the tweeter in the murano is also pretty good, so I would use that location instead of other placement in the door.
The crossover is built in the tweeter, if you remove the stock tweeter, you will see a small cap right below it to filter the highs. This is the way it is for Non-Bose...
If you have Bose, I am not sure the location of the crossover...
One way to find out...you can easily remove the Bose tweeter and see if you notice anything attached to it, if you see a cap on the tweeter, then the crossover is built in, if not, then the crossover is somewhere else.
The stock tweeter location is big enough to hold most aftermarket tweeters, but you will have to do some modification to hold your own tweeter.
These are the ones I bought the front (Infinity Kappa component), I have a 4 channel infinity amp pushing them, and I can tell you they sound pretty darn good. And it's loud enough that I never have to go past 1/2 on my volume.

The rear is just to fill the sound, so I bought these coaxial from Infinity:

Here is my Infinity amp sitting right under the passenger seat. I have industrial velcro attached to the bottom, so they stick pretty well to the carpet and won't move a bit.
