Anyone else having problems with their brakes squeaking? Mine has been doing it for awhile every time I pull out of the garage in the morning. Read the same thing on freshalloy.com but nobody seems to have heard about any fix on this.

I had squeeling like metal to metal, I opened up the brakes and there was more than enough pads left, however on closer inspection, I noticed a groove towards the upper edge on the pad, sure enough, it was a like of rust forming at the edge of the rotors. After grabbing a wire brush and brushing off the rust for about 2 minutes, my brakes work wonderfully quietly

YES! I have this problem and my 07 Murano has less than 6k miles. The breaks have already been serviced once and were quiet for a few weeks. Took it back as the problem returned with a vengence! It is a horrible, very loud, squealing in forward and reverse and seems to particulary like doing it through drive-thrus. Was told this is a known, but unfixable problem with the new break pads Nissan is using. Said it should subside with time. After they drove my car all day - they changed their minds. Said there is definitely something wrong and have supposedly called 4 engineers to find an answer. Still waiting a week later for a response. Definitely not an acceptable problem! Won't be sneaking up on anyone that's for sure!

I took the TSB (BR07-001 / NTB07-012) with me to the service department at the dealership as recommended by this forum.
When I explained the squealing problem to the Service Manager it was clear to me he heard this many times before. Of course, they tested the car and confirmed the infamous "SQUEEEAAAAAAKKKKKK".
They ordered the parts (basically the front brake pads and new hardware) which arrived in a couple of days and within a week they replaced them - no hassles.
So far so good. However, it will take some time before I will really know if the problem was resolved.

Another '07 MO brake squealer!
Bought Mo Aug. 07, brakes squealed within days first of the morning in reverse. Brought in to dealer at 3750 miles, with TSB in hand, & front pads were replaced. Next day same squeal 1st thing in the morning. I will attempt to add my own lubricant fix to pad shims. If anyone has a fix that works, let me know.

Man does that sound familiar and in cold weather it was always worse. Like I said somewhere in the thread, the TSB did not do it, the familiar squeal was back the next day. It just went away over time. Not a good answer but that's what happened.bud2 said:

The squeal has never gone away on mine, even after the TSB fix. What is more, my MO can keep squealing in reverse for ever as long as I keep the right amount of pressure on the pedal. It is not a short, only in the morning squeal in my case....

Got this same problem. Squeaky Break... Started about when my MO 2006 was about 3-4K . My Hubby said just the break is dusty or dirty. Asked dealer and got same answer. So squeaking continued... Goes away for awhile then back especially in early morning or when car is cool(Not used for a period of hours). A couple of months ago..MO at 18K, I mentioned this to dealer and they said same thing no problem just need brakes clean which they did. Last Friday @ 21K, took the car to a local mechanic got alignment with break inspection.They recommended breaks to be replaced. Does anyone know if I can file a complaint about this? Will the dealership pay for the replacement? Thanks!

Homer had a TSB (Tech Service Bulletin) preformed by the dealer and his were fine. I had the same done and mine still squealed the first thing in the AM when cold and in reverse only.
Mine and others had it go away by themselves. No explanation as to why it went away. Others still have the squeal and some never had it to begin with.
If you get the dealer to preform the Tech Service Bulletin, you get new pads. I'd look into that.

A friend on mine has an 07 MO and his brakes squeak.... I can't seem to find any TSB on this for his year. Does anyone know if one exist?

Thanks Bob, I had found that TSB but did'n't think it would apply since that appears to cover reverse and cold temps. My friend's situation is forward and when warm and cold.

So I took the Nissan mechanic for a ride, the brakes (all 4) squeaked like crazy as always. I also printed out the TSB that covered cold/backing up...and although my problem was mainly driving forward I had them do it too.**
Long /short: They did the TSB on the front brakes.
Machined all rotors. (not sure if they changed pads on the rear but probably did because of machined rotors)
It's been about a month and not a squeak yet!

I have a 2004 Murano....had the squeak first thing in the morning when backing out of the garage from day 1. At around 49,000 the rear brakes started squealing every time I applied them. I took the car in for inspection and they told me I needed new rear brakes.
The first couple of days after getting the new ones....no squealing...it was great. Since then they have started squealing again every time I apply the brakes....
I know if I take it back to the dealership they'll tell me they don't hear it. I've taken the car in for other rattling noises (that I still have) and they always claim they can't duplicate it.

Try "bedding" your brakes before you take the car in.
From about 60 MPH, brake with medium force to 5 MPH twice. This should warm up the rotors.
Then take the car from 60-5 MPH HARD for 4 or 5 times. Do not stop.
(You must not come to a halt and if you have to, do not hold the pads against the rotors. YOu WILL deposit some pad material and you will have a wobble in the brakes after that.)
You may experience some smell and even some smoke, this is normal., but if you do so after the 4th cycle, stop, that is enough.
Then cruise around for 10 minutes or so without touching the brakes to allow the rotors to cool down.
If you still have squealing, take em back to the guy what put em on.
