2 Mo's with droopy visors

I have an '04 and an '06 Mo. BOTH have the same exact problem where the visor will not stay up. On both of mine they acually stay when they're all the way up but once you take them off of home position they droop all the way into your line of sight.
I'm not going to spend the megabucks just to buy one from Nissan as this is obviously a quality defect and not just a broken visor:D

Please do report those to the link posted earlier in this thread. I went to the dealership and asked them to make a refund under the goodwill program but the manager refused and would only refund if a recall has been issued.

Who has had success with getting the visor replaced for free by the dealer

Curious to see who has had any luck with getting the visor replace by the dealer. I called about 4 dealers and they told me to pound sand!
What was that link and hotline and what dealer did you go through.
Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

Have you considered replacing it yourself? Although they list for $260 you can get a new one online for $187. They are secured with only two screws.

You can replace both for little more than what the dealer is charging for one.
What is the part # for driver's side and where for $187?

Additionally, Has anyone dissected their old one to determine the failure mode?

I have a Mo 2005, and having same problem, sometimes it fells down on me in road bumps. I went to Nissan today, they totally denied that they ever had any problem with Morano's sun visors. I asked them how much does it cost to replace it, the quoted 135CAD+tax part only, and they told me it would take another 20$ to install it so I ordered it.
Did this work out?
That's the cheapest I've seen.

I'm Back.... Onei here to report yet another sun visor failure. After spending the $300 back in 2008 to replace this part on the '04 MO, it failed again. I have filed my complaint, can only hope it will do some good. Unfortunately I think it will take someone getting seriously injured before anything gets done about this. This part from Nissan has no right being installed in this vehicle until it can pass some prolonged operational tests. If Nissan wants someone to test it, I'll be glad to put it through some Arizona days. I've got a call into my Nissan dealership service advisor right now, hopefully he will call back. I can't imagine spending another $300 + to repair this, again. This will be like number 4. My wife is threatening the velcro approach which I'm entirely concerned about her ruining the headliner. Has anybody had any success with some odd ball repair that will alleviate this?

Sun Visor problem

I am a newbee and registered only few days ago to this forum. My 2004 Murano has developed a problem with both sun visors - more so on driver side than the other. It started about 9 months ago. Initially I was able to put it back and it will stay up for some time, but now the condition has wosened. Now no matter how hard I try, the sun visor would not stay in place and keep on dropping into my eyes.
It does not stay up and keeps on falling into my eyes. From the forums I have visited, I have noticed that this is a common problem with Murano vehicles.

I have filed a complaint on safecar.gov. Should I also file my complaint with http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/ ?

I am not sure what good that is going to do. Just another
I cannot believe that a reputed car manufacturer like Nissan can build such an inferior product. In my mind it is a safety issue and Government should ask Nissan to stand up to their product and issue a recall.

This is not the only problem I am having with this car. Other problems are:

1. Driver side power seat does not function because some part is broken, but because of this, I need to replace entire mechanism.
2. Gas cap cover does not open. I had to spend $400 to get it fixed.
3. There is some engine component that makes internal noise that could make my vehicle stop while diving. I have been told that this costs $4,500.

Looks like whole car is falling apart in under 60,000 miles. It is incomprehensible that Nissan has manufactured this car with built-in obsolescence. This is a piece of junk sold by a so-called reputed car manufacturer.

Welcome, and I hope you got a good buy. It sounds like this car was put through the proverbial mill by the previous owner. This is always the risk with used cars and surely why this one was back on the market with such low mileage. At least I'm assuming you bought this car used. If I am wrong, I apologize.

I've had my 04 (SE) for 5 1/2 years and 78K miles, and have had none of the problems you are having. But then, apparently unlike your car's previous owner (again, I apologize if you bought your car new), I take very good care of my cars. My Maxima is 15 1/2 years old and is still going strong at 212K miles.

Good luck, it sounds like you are going to need it.

Temporary fix for floppy sun visors, as developed by drivers dating from the invention of sun visors to today:

1) Flip sun visor into horizontal position.
2) Shove visor forward until it jams against headliner/windshield, forcing it to stay out of the way.
3) Drive.

This may not be appealing or pretty, but it has worked for nearly 100 years. I did it on my 1940 Chevy, 1953 Ford pickup, etc. etc.

Personally, I can't imagine why adding a piece of velcro on the headliner is a big problem when it's going to be covered by the sun visor 95% of the time. I don't consider a floppy sun visor to be a big deal at all, and I rather like the velcro idea. I'd darn sure do that before I spent $300 on a sun visor.

I want it fixed. I use my sun visor, and when my options are all the way up or all the way down, it becomes useless. I can't see the road when it's all the way down.

Can;t blame me for hoping a recall will get it fixed for free and for good.
