Just thought I'd share this email I got the other day from Muth about the signal mirrors and where it stands.

Dear Jay,

Thank you for your email!

We are currently in the process of building a prototype set of Signal® mirrors for the Murano. Once the prototypes are built, the next step is to install them on a Murano and test for fit, form and function. If that proves successful, we would then launch the program for production.

If you have any questions or comments, please contact me directly.

Sincerely,

Here's the latest from Muth on the signal mirrors:

Dear Doug,

I'm sorry for the delay. Currently, we are in the process of preparing for the SEMA show, www.semashow.com, which diverts the resources of just about everyone including our prototype technician. I've checked with him and he plans to try to build the Murano prototypes, which we plan to test on your Murano, in the next 5-10 business days. Once we have those built, then we'll contact you and coordinate for the test install. The silver lining in the delay is with the amount of interest your group has shown, if everything goes well with the install, I believe we'll go into production of a Murano Signal Mirror® kit! Thanks for your patience.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Sincerely,
Chris Wedge

SUBJECT: Murano?

Hi Chris,

It's been about three weeks since we last communicated about the signal mirror kit for the Murano.

Do you have any further information to share?

Thanks,

Doug Klanecky

Don I dont believe they provide a whole new mirror casing just the actual mirror and the inside parts needed, then you install it to the existing housing.

How are the turn signal mirrors comming? GRIP :D

The prototype (Muth Signal Mirror) is done and installed! Pictures below (linked from my gallery on this site, if you want to see the all).

Very nice to drive with, especially at night.

The installer (Nate) had a problem with the clearance of the Muth mirrors in the housing, probably because I have my mirrors set at the outer most position all the time. He had to grind off (using a dremel tool) a small plastic piece in order to get the travel I needed.

He also had to create a new access point for the wiring to get in the cabin (shown in the pictures below).

I have nothing negative to say about the proto type install or the product. I noticed last night that they also flash when the alarm is set.

I like them a lot.

When and how much? GRIP :D

Thanks for postings. Tha is the one mod that I have been waiting for...

But creating that extra access point, drilling through the metal, will make the final cost kiindda pricey. For ppl who are not that good in working with metals, like me, one need to bring the car to a body shop. I guess there wasnt any other way to bring in the wires?

Do you know when muthco going to market this prototype and sell a kit via their website? I will send him an email to inquire :).
Again thanks for postings and making your murano to be the 1st ~

I just did, no reply yet. I bet we can use the existing rubber wire flex boot like we do in the hatch for the hidden SAT antenna. What to you think dklanecky1 you watched the installation I hope. GRIP :D

I was thinking the same thing Grip

Just pass a fish (peice of wire) through the existing boot and tape the wires to it and pull them through. Can the boot accommodate the extra wire pair?
