I want comfort but a better looking tire from the oem.
If you are looking for comfort then I would stay away from the 45-profile tires.

When I upgraded my wheels from 18's to 20's , I experienced none of those pitfalls.

I got a smoother ride, better handling and looks. My mileage had no discernible change.

I think that $500 is a great deal for those wheels. If you don't go for it, you will regret missing out later.

Enjoy.
I agree with the putter, buy them now. You can in the future always resell them if you gain a distaste and if you really do not like the ride you can step up to a higher aspect ratio when you retire. Heh, retire :p You might find you like that road feel and handling better than the difference in ride comfort.

Keep in mind that the TOYO Proxes are smaller in diameter than your stock tires (29 vs 30") and the speedometer reading will be over-reporting your speed by 3.3%. An indicated 60mph will actually be 58 mph.

The smaller diameter tire will actually improve your accelleration ever so slightly.

Perfect. 2MPH you will never notice but aid you in not getting a ticket. :2:

I think thats definitely on the small side for tires. You can use tirerack.com's tire size calculator to figure out what will fit your vehicle. Basically you need to keep the circumference more or less the same (within 5%).

255/50/20 or 265/50/20 seem to be an appropriate size.

It comes down to personal taste and economics.

Personally, I think the OEM rubber is a shade or two too small for the wheel openings. Installing 255/45-20 rubber will make the wheel wells appear that much more empty. But that is just me. Some may prefer that look.

On the other hand, $500 for the set of wheels and tires is a fantastic deal, one that would be very hard to pass up.

I went to try out the toyo rims on the mo and they looked too small. the mo looked nice with the rims. but the tires were too small, real thin. i called a couple of local tire shops and i found toyo proxes 255/55/18 for 600 plus tax, and yokohama geolanders hts g052 265/60/18 for 636 plus tax. thats including installation, balancing. what do you guys think?

The Geolanders would be more accurate.

Speedo would say 60, actual speed would be 61.

Plus the Geo would be "slightly" larger, (Diameter .5" larger, 30.5 vs 30.0) filling the wheel well "slightly" more.

Plus IMHO, Toyos suck.

Helpless23,

It depends on what you prefer. If you go with 20” rims and 275 tires expect lower fuel economy and harsher ride. In my personal opinion the OEM size fits Murano perfectly providing good balance between handling and ride. I also happen to like the SL rims.

Tires – look at the new Yokohama YK520. I put them on my FX35 a month ago and like them. $900 out of the door including road hazard insurance and 60,000 miles warranty (Bridgestone OEM lasted 30,000 miles and cost $1,400). They do come in Murano size….

I've been a 2007 Z50 owner in the UK for about 5 weeks now and have been trawling through here looking for a replacement for the OEM Dunlops, which have done 40k. Having used Geolander GO12's on my Mitsi Pajero , I wanted the nearest equivalent in their range which turned out to be the Geolander HT-S GO51, 255/60/18. just had them fitted for the UK equivalent of $825 for 4, a real bargain over here. Not expecting much effect on mpg, probably about the same as the Mitsi tbh. In the US it's not worth worrying about, we pay the equivalent of $8.10 for a US gallon at our shopping centre service stations !!!
