Still waiting, they called me last week and told me they could not get it from another dealer so they are getting a new MO directly from Nissan. They told me what I have now are free miles with the MO i have now and they will call me when the new MO arrives. I only have 2 explanation for this.

1. They are hoping I total it...knock on wood.
2. They want me to run up the miles so it won't look so suspicious when they sell it back. A used Mo @ only 3500 miles, something does not look right. I bet they will take it on a few trips also to get the mileage up to around 10k.

But yea, as of right now I'm just waiting for a new one.

Have they given you an ETA?

They said 1st week of May.
Excellent!! That's right around the corner. I know it has been aggravating for you, but pretty soon you will be enjoying that new-car smell all over again. It will be worth the wait.

Good luck.

Just got a call from the dealer. They said they have 2 Muranos coming in. Both are identical and will have all the features that mine has and a few more. I'll have the option to choose which one I want and will not be charged for the additonal add ons. Sounds good so far. Should be getting it this week.

That's great news. You'll have to let us know the details about which one you chose. :)

Finally got the new MO. Everything was the same except I got the cross bars to go across the roof rails ($190) and the cargo protector ($80 i think) for free. This MO had only 8 miles on it. My 1st one had 32.

What they did was used my old mo as a trade in for the new one. The service dept had to eat the $6,000 that paid for the difference.

Feels great to have this behind me now. The sales manager came and talked to me for a bit, and told me that in situations like this, he wants the customer to win. The truth is I only won because I was persistant and fought for it. I owe alot to all of you guys who helped me through this. Thanks alot for all the support and help.

:claphead: Congrats.

Of all the possible outcomes, never did I think Nissan would opt for this one. If it were not for your persistence I am sure you would still be driving around in your "old" MO with nothing but a handful of "free oil change" coupons in the glove box. Way to go!! Another victory for the consumer!

-- Z,

I heard he got fired a got a new job at a Nissan dealership in San Jose, California..
Wouldn't surprise me if it was Stevens Creek Nissan - that place is run by crooks!

I still wouldn't go to Stevens Creek. Bought my Maxima there, will never visit again. Terrible customer service.

Oh boy.....I know you are joking but if not here, he is working somewhere simillar. At least if you were not joking I would know which place to avoid.

Now the fact is there are a lot more mechanics like the one you had the experience with. Imagine this scenario...

You take your car for oil change and maybe a brake job. They start turning the rotor and drain the oil at the same time. Car is still up so the mechanic plans to refill the engine after the car is lowered. Brake job is completed but he forgets to add oil. He then takes it for a test drive to test the brake job he just completed. In the middle of the drive, he realizes he is running a dry engine. He quietly drives back to his bay after having driven the car for maybe 10 miles, and puts oil in the motor. Of course he is not going to mention this to anyone, and you will never know.

I have a feeling this happens more often than you think...

We can also blame the dealer

Check lists are just for simple things like oil changes of moon landings.

The big question is what ever happened to 3.5V6's oil-starved MO? Was the engine rebuilt (very unlikely) or is it now sitting on a dealer's lot with a "Just Like New" placard sitting in the windshield waiting for an unsuspecting couple to plunk down $30,000 of their hard-earned dough (very probable).

I can almost guarantee the dealer is not disclosing the oil issue. And for those of you out there who say the engine was not affected I dare you to drain the oil out of your MO and drive it around town for 15 miles. :4:

I totally agree with you. If 3.5V6 got a replacement MO, maybe he can report the original oil starved MO's VIN to Carfax, just to have the incident documented for buyers later on.
