Hi Greg,

I also bought the PAC-RP4-NI11, there is s ticker on the side that tells you the software revision, mine is 5.1.2.

When I connected CAN+/- as the manual states and hook it up to the car, no steering wheel was recognized by the module, the red LED should flash whenever you press a key. I called PAC and they told me that the software revision needs to be at least 5.1.4 for the Murano, and told me I could take it to best buy and have them update it for an additional $20. I will go in this weekend and try to update the software and see if that fixes the problem.
As you mentioned, KEY1 and KEY2 are the resistive pins for the SWC, but not all 2 aare used, just KEY1 should be enough. The unit measures the resistance value between Key1 or Key2 and GND, so the PAC is supposed to decode the CAN signal and convert it to a resistive value the head unit can read. The output of the PAC is the 3.5mm jack, I cut the 3.5mm jack and connected the RED wire to KEY1 and black to GND.

I will try again this weekend after I update the software and see if that works, will let you know.

For me , SWC is a must, I cannot reach everytime just to increase or lower the volume, or to go back home. There is so much you can do with the SWC including long press.

I made a video when troubleshooting to show to PAC what the issue was:

Hi Assad,

My PAC-RP4-NI11 is also revision 5.1.2. the problem is I have no pin 6 or 16 on the 20 pin connector for KEY2 and KEY1 coming from the Seicane head unit so I don't know if it even has wires associated with these signals which will not be cool! From what I've researched so far, looks like I would need to connect to the 40 pin connector M162 pin 21(1) MCAN2 LO, and pin 41(21) MCAN2 Hi. However, without SWC wires from the head unit, I am at a loss as to where to connect any interfaces.

I purchased my PAC from Amazon. When looking on the PAC website it says to update firmware with included usb cable. Well it apparently doesn't come with the usb cable. I downloaded the update program and the RP4-NI11_5.1.4.puf file. There is a five pin male connector on the PAC. That's the usb connection. If I can get the matching female connector I can make a usb cable easily enough, or I can just stick female pins directly to it.

So the new head unit you bought has the KEY1&2 pins/wires. I wish! There are some wires that I could not identify on my head unit so I may plug it in on my bench and poke around with an oscope and see what comes out. I still have to figure out the reverse camera short video problem too. I am determined to make this work! lol

Let us know what you find out with the update. I'll try and do the same...

All the units I came across have key1 and key2, even the ones that came with the CANBUS decoder, it might not necessarily be on the 20 pin connector, but usually that's where they put it, they should have a label for key1 and key2. Seicane engineer should be able to tell you for sure, because my old one had it.
Pin 21 and 41 are the correct pins, that's what I used. There is another pin, at least on mine that goes to high when you put the car in reverse, that pin is also used by the PAC to tell the unit that the car is in reverse and to switch to the camera CAM IN input.

I would check whatever trigger you are using for the camera to come on, that the voltage is steady. If I remember correctly, you are using a 12v to 6v power adapter to power the camera.
Put the car in reverse and check with your multimeter all trigger are correct. If everything is fine, then it might be some setting on the unit under the factory settings.

The joying unit that I bought has it since it is universal, and I connected key1 to the PAC.

The device needed for the PAC firmware update might be more than just a USB cable. It is called PAC UP I believe, and when I look it up, it was a small box.

Assad,
Key1 and Key2 are shown in the website photos as 6 and 16 on the 20 pin connector. However, My connector and harness did not have those pins or wires marked as such. :( For reverse camera there is only the 12V input from my murano harness. There is no other reverse pin or wire marked on the Seicane harness, and my murano harness does not have that signal pin either which would be on pin 39(19) on other murano 40 pin harnesses. I am not using the 12 to 6V converter. I believe the power to the cameras comes from the all around converter when shifting into reverse and sends one camera video out to the harness. I'll check reverse signal and factory settings too. Hopefully I can find at least why my reverse video only comes on at first turn on and only for several seconds.

The 5 pin connector on the PAC is just test points so yeah small box PAC UP to update like you said. another :( Let me know if Best Buy was able to update your PAC. :)

Luinoz,
That would be great if you could post wire harness pins, colors, and where they come from on the canbus and decoder.

Thanks guys!

Gregory, I am going to start from the 20 pin connector on the cambus to the connector on the head unit and the 40 and 20 pin connectors.
1 black to 15 GND on HU and 20 on 20 pin
2 green split to 41 MCAN2 H and 42 MCAN1 H
7 purple /black strip to 11 CAN TX
8 purple to 45 reverse
9 light green to 43 CAN-H
11 yellow to 16 battery and 19 on 20 pin
12 green split to 21 MCAN2 L and 22 MCAN1 L
13 orange to 39 which its empty
14 orange to 2 reverse
18 purple to 1 CAN RX
19 light green /black strip to 23 CAN-L
20 red to 3 ACC on HU and 7 on 20 pin
The camera is connected from 60 and 40 to a different port on the head unit together with the AUX cables.
Hope this helps

I recently put in a '18 head unit in my '15. It should be plug and play for you but be sure to get one that has Bose. Also, find out if the unit comes with the SD card. For 18 the Bose model is 25915-9UE1A. After a few weeks of searching one finally popped up on Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market.
I'm looking to put a 2018 head unit with Bose into my 2017.5 Murano with Bose so I can have Android Auto. Would I be able to use the 2018 wiring harness or would I need a special wiring harness. Thanks for any help.

You should be fine with your same factory harness. It should be plug and play as long as the new unit has Bose.

Hi Greg,

Ok, finally was able to get SWC to work.
This will work with any third party head unit, not only the android head unit.

If you are using the PAC AUDIO PAC-RP4-NI11, you need to make sure the firmware is at 5.1.4.
When I bought it, it came with firmware 5.1.2. You can go to Best Buy and they will update the firmware for $24.95, it only takes 5min. Or, if you ave the PAC UP module, you can do it yourself.
Connecting the PAC SWC to the Murano is pretty easy and straight forward ( See diagram below). There is a 3.5mm jack on the output, you can buy a female 3.5mm jack and solder the red wire to the KEY1.

Also, turn the dial on the PAC module to #7 ( Pioneer/Other)

Once you make the connection, turn on the car and press any SWC button, you should see the red LED on the PAC flash, that's how you know it is working.

As you can see in the video, I could get all of my SWC to work (VOL UP, VOL DWN, etc...).
When you press on the SWC button , you can see it display on the dashboard.

There is much more you can do with the android head unit with long press, or combination of keys, that way you are not limited to only the short press. ie, you can programmed long press to wake up 'OK, Google".

Sorry if this is is noob question. I can update the maps myself but will the dealership be able and willing to update the firmware in the 2018 head unit I install if needed.

Thanks.

The dealer should still be able to do it or you can always go to Nissan’s site. All you need is the radio ID from the menu screen and you can order a new SD card with any future updates. It’s probably better to go through the website as I’m not sure if the dealers charge any labor to do the update in addition to the cost of the card. You should be good for a while with the software and maps that will come with the 2018 radio.

I just ordered a map update 10 minutes ago. I'll use this until I can find a unit that will be compatible with my murano with Navi and bose.

Ok. Thanks, just need to find the head unit now.

Assad,

Does the PAC unit support setting the time on the dashboard?

Alrighty, my unit arrived today! Gonna take all the instructions, tips, and advice on here and give it a go. Im not worried about the process of diassembly/reassembly as Im very mechanically inclined, fingers crossed theres no crazy unexpected electrical surprises tho. I have a 2016 SL with Nav and Bose. I did tell them this and based on previous posts i made sure to ask for the 40pin adapter. By my count i think they got it right. Can somebody take a look and confirm please?

Good question...
I have not check, but my guess is no. The head unit has to send that info, and i dont think the pac unit supports that.
