Yeah, I like the new redesign of the Rogue and its technical features. For me the previous generation Rogue looked just a tad too dorky for my taste... Plus it felt cramped widthwise compared to the Murano. I would consider it if I were back in the market, but I plan to keep my '19 for many years to come. I like to buy new, then keep it as long as possible to amortize my initial higher cost over many years.

Nissan makes odd choices when it comes to updating models. Frontier is on its 16th year for the current body style in the US market meanwhile during the same time frame Altima's had 4 different body styles, not including front end refreshes. Other markets got a new Frontier in 2015. Same for the poor Xterra 2005-2015 same till the end of production.

Just watched this video. Looks like the Murano will not be getting any kind of upgrade.

Have a good day.

I think Nissan spent a lot of time and money on the EV Ariya. Every major car maker are coming out with an EV, nissan does not want to be left behind. And seeing the design of the Ariya and the price point, I would rather buy an ariya than the overpriced tesla.
The the new rogue and altima, their best selling suv and sedan by far, why would you spend money and time on the murano, that's why all you see with the murano is a "refresh", but no new design.
I love the design of the ariya, which has a range of 300miles, this will be my next car. How can you go wrong?
No CVT, no engine, no oil change, the only thing you have to worry about is the battery.
There are only 3 major parts on these EV: the battery, the inverter and the induction coil. It is basically maintenance free.

We'll have to see how much the Ariya will cost. Probably similar to the Mustang Mach E, Volvo XC40 Recharge, VW I.D.4, etc. So far, none of the current EV vehicles meet my needs. An affordable AWD EV crossover is what I want and there's no such thing. The Leaf, Bolt, Kona, Niro, Soul are performing well but they're all FWD hatchbacks...

For an extended road trip I would prefer a hybrid in the future rather than an EV. I just don't think there will be enough charging stations in the near future to power EV's on road trips. The electric infrastructure has a long way to go to provide power for everyone's EV.

I hate to hear that the Murano will not be updated in the near future. Our 18 may be our first and last Nissan.

What are you looking for in an EV? Why is 4WD so important to you?
I think the Ariya will be the most affordable in the EV SUV with 4 WD in terms of features, starting price is 40k. I saw the mustand, the Volvo, but I like the nissan design better.
The Ariya was built from the ground up, and seeing nissan has been in the EV vehicle for a long time, it will be very competitive against the tesla.

@Murano5
The Ariya has a 300mile range, and you will be surprise to see charging station are popping up now all over.
Just in my neighborhood, they have charging stations at the mall, grocery store, etc...
I drive to NJ often from MD, and every rest stop has charging stations.

Besides, our next president JB  said he will invest a lot on green energy, so expect to see a lot more charging stations.

I think the EV tech is mature enough now, the only thing I do not like is that it can be very expensive, maybe you can make up for it with the incentive from the government, less maintenance work, and no gas price.
Now you have EV trucks, EV trailers etc...

I live North of the border with Winters that are similar to say Minneapolis! I've had AWD for the last 21 years except for a few years where I had FWD and deeply regretted it. Here a diminutive Kona EV top of the line is Cdn $56K before taxes and government rebates, way too expensive. For now I think I'll keep my Murano and keep maintaining it.

Correction: I meant the Kia Niro EV top of the line is Cdn $56K, the Kona is a little cheaper. The base Niro EV is about Cdn $46K, no heated seats, no heated steering wheel and available in black only like a Ford Model T:mad: Too bad as it's a good size compared to the Kona and Bolt.

This model came out in 2015, and except for a few tweaks here and there, it hasn't really changed. So if the 2021 remains virtually unchanged, that's going to be 7 model years of the same design.

I feel it's getting pretty dated, and that it's lagging other models in tech and drive train. The Murano should have in excess of 300 HP, and a lot of the newer tech features.

Anyone have any inside information on what is going on? The redesigned Rogue looks very nice. My wife wants a Rogue and I told her to hold off until we see and drive the 2021. A similar redesign of the Murano is very much needed.
I ran into this article https://suvs2022.com/2022-nissan-murano/.
They refer to Edmunds who claim that we can expect a new generation of Murano in 2022.

Yea, that article references a Edmund's article from Feb. of this year. Kind of outdated, if you look at Nissan's press release web site.

Interestingly, Nissan's press release web sites make absolutely no mention of a '22 Murano. There are PRs for all their other models, but I think that the Ariya is going to be their showcase car for '22, from the amount of write-ups.

Also of note, the PR for their Nissan Qashqa (The UK Murano look-a like, in body and interior only.) is coming out with a '22 model, using aluminum tech to lighten the car weight. No style changes at all.

On another note, Murano NA '19 - '20 sales overall were slipping, until Covid, which as everyone knows, has basically screwed the supply line for new cars. Another reason I believe we won't see a '22 model.

Have a good day.

I agree. I think the Murano is done. The 2022 Pathfinder is only 4 inches longer than the Murano, so despite the 3rd row seating it will most likely be the intended "replacement" for the Murano for buyers that want V6 power. The Rogue Platinum will be the intended vehicle for people that want a smaller 2-row crossover with all of the bells and whistles.

My friend was looking to replace their Murano recently, and the Nissan sales rep was heavily pushing them toward the 2021 Rogue Platinum as the proper replacement. The rep had no problem entertaining my friend's desire to just get another Murano, but was strongly pushing the Rogue. My friend drove both, and decided to just keep their current Murano. The Rogue had a slightly firmer ride than the Murano (but way more features) and the new Murano didn't give them anything more than they already have.

Two-row, midsize crossovers are becoming an extinct breed. The Ford Edge is going away in 2023. The Chevy Blazer is available, but not a huge seller. Honda Passport doesn't sell ginormous numbers. Kia Sorento is 3-rows now. GMC dropped the 2-row option for the Acadia. Other than the Euro brands and Hyundai Santa Fe, 2-row mid-sized crossovers just aren't something that automakers are really focusing on anymore.

I think the Murano is a goner in the next couple years. There are new Muranos available with a $3000 mfr rebate and discounts on top of that, while some brands are demanding prices that are thousands above sticker. The full-line Nissan TV ads (starring the lovely Brie Larson) do not show the Murano but I believe they show the Ariya.

The fact that Nissan decided to temporarily shut down the Murano manufacturing line due to the electronic chip supply shortage and use their chip inventory for more popular models tells the story about the future of the MO.......!

Here's the TV ad with Brie Larson. Note at the 57 second point the full lineup of Nissan vehicles. No Murano in the row, but an Ariya driving across the row of other "New Nissans." If this does not say the Murano is gone, I don't know what does. If you want a Murano, get yours now...

Rouge is way underpowered, Pathfinder is good but for people like me who need second row and trunk space is not a good option.

Mo was the perfect spot in size, i think sales didn’t go well just because of the build quality and CVT.

We have 2015, i was waiting for redesigned MO, looks like for nothing :(

I will concede that Nissan may be working on a redesigned Murano and did not want to show their hand. But Ford wiped out major parts of their offering, for instance, when they dumped cars like the Fusion (which sold in numbers). And the excitement is now with electric vehicles. I just read a headline that says the electric Mustang Mach-E is outselling the traditional gas powered Mustang. Which market looks like a better one for the future? I have Ford exec friends driving Mach E's and posting about them and darn, they look appealing in so many ways.

I think the Murano is not a showroom draw any longer. What would be a showroom draw is a sexy and practical Ariya between the Rogue and the Pathfinder. And I think the styling of the Rogue and Pathfinder is great. Frankly, with the Pathfinder not having a CVT, I'd prefer a new Pathfinder over a Mo with the CVT. (But not a first year Pathfinder.)

At the time the first series Murano came out, it was one of the quickest and best handling crossovers in its size class. I think there is more competition in that class now.

I went and drove an early Mo with my son in 2003 to see how a CVT worked and really liked it. It was fast and looked good in a car sort of way. (We also drove a Saturn Vue which was NOT a good example of a CVT.)

I was driving a '98 Acura 2.5TL as my DD, and had my '91 318is (already in garage queen status) and a full size camper van, so I was really all set with vehicles and had some benchmarks. The TL had a similar footprint as the Maxima and the Mo, old and new. and I like cars that size. But I don't see many mid-size 2-row crossovers going wild right now. The Edge is tanking, the new Chevy Blazer is in that market. Honda has the Passport but that is more of a tough outdoorsy thing. 4Runner is a truck, not a car. Grand Cherokee is a different market. Lexus is upmarket with the RX.

The Murano's last styling redo was so extreme that reeling the styling back in might be a logical thing, but it will lose the identity it now has. I also had a '76 Corvette a few years ago (in orange) and the whole Mako Shark styling thing with huge fender bumps appealed to me more back then. (But Chevy killed the interior to get the skinny waist; the major casualty with the Mo is loss of the lower door pockets and cup holders.)

I've said it before, but with today's tough outdoor vehicle resurgence, I think Nissan could sell a lot more XTerras than they do Muranos. I'm one of the people who looked at XTerras over all of its years and was sad when it went away.

And as I know I said above, appealing electric vehicles are where the new showroom draws are.
